Week 7 Matchups and Predictions

As I said in the last post, bye weeks are creating a mess up rosters around the league. It's forcing teams to use players that would probably never sniff a lineup on a regular week, but that's what makes it fun and unpredictable. It also shows how creative owners have to get into producing a viable lineup. We have some very interesting matchups this week and honestly 4 out of the 5 matchups seem like a coin toss as to who's going to win. Let's get it started

Hoosier Daddy (4-2)

Matchup Stats

Last Matchup: I beat Ryan 76-69 in Week 5 of the 2010
Career Record: I'm up 1-0 on Ryan

Overview:  I needed to beat Cindy last week, because I've penciled this week as a loss for me. You know byes started week 5 and I have yet to face a team that has had bye issues and this week is no different. Ryan has a full team at his disposal while I'll be without  DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy, and Vernon Davis. McCoy is the biggest loss of course, but losing two other starters isn't great, and now I'll have to trust Jackie Battle, Greg Little, and Kellen Winslow and step up and the get the job done. Three weeks ago I had NO CLUE who Greg Little and Jackie Battle were. Now, they're in my lineup. That's fantasy for ya. Luckily at the very least, they'll have a shot to make some noise as the Chiefs play Oakland who aren't great at stopping the run and the Browns play Seattle who have a horrible secondary. Kellen Winslow also plays the Bears who give up the most points to tight ends in the league, so at least my guys will give me some glimmer of hope. Tony Romo SHOULD have a prime matchup against the winless Rams and their shitty defense I will be very disappointed if he doesn't net me AT LEAST 20 points. Greg Jennings against the Vikings is also solid as well, and Monday night I'll have Ray Rice and Billy Cundiff at my disposal against the Jacksonville Jags. Cam Newton ALWAYS SCARES ME. He'll play Washington and it doesn't matter what the matchup is, Cam can do it on the ground and in the air so I think he'll be a fine play. Mike Wallace was hurt all week but he'll be ready to go against the Arizona Cardinals. Another scary play, cause Wallace is a deep threat guy so if he does his damage it'll be a long bomb score. Plaxico Burress has been pretty damn inconsistent, and the Jets play the Chargers, so who knows how'll effective he'll be. Mendenhall gets the Cardinals as well, so he should be ready for a repeat performance of last week. Ryan has a Sunday night play in Jimmy Graham and against the Colts nonetheless. Expect big things from him, which sucks for me. Two Sunday night plays round out Ryan's team with MJD against the Ravens and Boldin in that same game. I like MJD against the Ravens as they are pretty good at stopping the run, however Boldin could actually be a great play against that terrible Jags defense.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Ryan wins 84-83
I say: Ryan wins, like I said I've prepared myself for a loss this week only because I have two big time risky plays in Jackie Battle and Greg Little. Playing against a full strength team that's the caliber of Ryan's will be hard to overcome.

Take Dat Wit Chu (3-3) vs
Da Boyz (2-4)

Matchup Stats

Never played each other

Overview: Here's the only matchup that I think there is a clear choice for a winner. Kenny's been a 3 game losing streak after starting 3-0, and he needs to get this win more than ever. He plays Cindy who this week will be without not only Andre Johnson but Wes Welker as well. Two HUGE blows as Cindy will have to rely on Pierre Garcon, Robert Meachem, and Reggie Wayne now to carry the load. Also, though McFadden has a great matchup against the Chiefs,  Cindy has to roll with shitty Shonn Greene again. It doesn't matter the matchup, he just doesn't get the job done, period. Matt Ryan's been really disappointing but here's another chance at redemption against the Lions. Owen Daniels will face the Titans Defense which isn't too bad of a matchup. Green Bay's defense plays a rookie Christian Ponder and that could provide some major points for  Cindy. Aaron Rodgers is in that same game and he'll probably get usual major game. Some of Kenny's matchups for his players might seem daunting (Fitz vs Pitt, Ryan Mathews vs. Jets, Santonio vs anyone with Mark Sanchez as his QB) and he's rolling with the rookie Daniel Thomas this week, which is somewhat of a risk. Miles Austin though, has an excellent chance to put up some big points against the Rams, and Tony Gonzalez has a chance for a good game against the Lions too. Just like Cindy, Kenny has an excellent defensive play with the Ravens playing the Jags Monday night.

Yahoo Says: Kenny wins 109-84
I Say: Kenny wins, his team is way to good to lose this one and the fact that Cindy won't have Wes Welker or Andre Johnson really limits the upside of her team.

Shredders (2-4) vs
Salt & Vinegar Chips (1-5)

Matchup Stats
Never Played Each Other

Overview: A tale of two disappointing teams, but one of these teams will be given a shot of extra life. Zach would be in the better position to get back in the playoff hunt if he wins, but Mike really needs to win becuase starting 1-6 would be near impossible to make the playoffs. This won't be pretty, as both teams are having the start outside the box players. Zach made an excellent pickup to get Joe Flacco as his fill in starter for Vick this week. If there was a week I'd want to use Flacco, it would be this week against the Jags. The receivers Zach has to use are a coin toss. When Jordy Nelson is your WR #1, you know you have an unpredictable bunch. Steve Breaston and Doug Baldwin round out  Zach's receivers, and though the matchups might be decent (The Steelers concentrating on Fitz, might leave Breaston to get some valuable targets) it's far from a given these guys can perform. Add Willis McGahee and Mike Tolbert to the mix, and you have one of the most random and unpredictable group of starters I've ever seen in a week. Literally not one star, but if they can piece it together they definitely have a chance to make an impact. Mike Posey would be CRAZY to keep Carson Palmer in his lineup over Matt Schaub. Palmer isn't even starting, and if he does that, game over. I really like his receivers/running backs over Zach's a lot. Colston, Nate Washington, and Steve Smith all have great matchups (Colts, Texans, Redskins respectively) and Michael Turner and Beanie Wells have been solid all year as well. Kevin Boss is a big question just as Ben Watson is for Zach. Another kudos to Zach for picking up Dallas Defense. Sam Bradford is out and that defense definitely could get some nice points against an A.J. Feeley led Rams team.

Yahoo says: Zach wins 77-65
I say: Zach wins, especially if Carson Palmer stays in Mike's lineup. If Mike puts  Schaub back in, he should have the advantage by a little bit, but still this is going to be pretty close I think if that happens.

Channel 4 News Team (3-3) vs
Dr. Wily's Robots        (3-3)

Last Matchup: Albert beat Matt 81-71 in week 9 of the 2010 season
Career Record: Albert leads Matt 1-0 all time

Overview: One team had an off week when they needed it the most, another team had another outstanding performance after a 1-3 start. Albert and Matt now meet in a crucial matchup where one team will end up with a losing record when it's all said and done. Matt is significantly hurt by the bye week this week as both Fred Jackson and Frank Gore are out and with no RB depth out there, he's depending on Tim Hightower to fill the void. Considering Ryan Torain and Roy Helu are also involved, this is a very risky play. Philip Rivers has been underperforming this season and the Jets won't be any easier to pass on. Matt might roll with Jacoby Jones as well while at least Brandon Marshall and Dwayne Bowe have good matchups (Miami and Oakland) and should be able to put up some solid points. Adrian Peterson goes against Green Bay, but with Christian Ponder at QB, and the Vikings probably be losing big, how effective will he be? Dustin Keller is too inconsistent to ever know what he'll do. Albert, player wise should have the advange here. Brady is out though, on bye, so he'll have to chance using Matt Hasselbeck this week against the Texans. In  that same game it looks like he'll be using Kevin Walter as well, who is a risky play, but with Andre Johnson out again, expect Walter to get some extra targets. Of course Arian Foster will be in that game too, and he should be good to go and ready for a big game. Albert has two plays in the Rams-Cowboys game, Dez Bryant and Steven Jackson. The Cowboys are really good at stopping the run, so I don't expect too much from Jackson, and if Dez can actually play 4 quarters instead of two, he could be in for a nice game. Jermichael Finley has been really disappointing this season, outside of his 3 TD game against the Bears. You have to keep plugging him in, but you have to wonder when he'll produce those elite TE numbers everyone has been calling for.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Albert wins 96-82
I say: Albert wins, I think Albert has more firepower this week than Matt. Yes, losing Brady this week hurts, but the combination of Megatron, Dez, and Foster should be enough to get the W against Matt.

The Bad Robofies (4-2) vs
The_Twin_Killers (4-2)

Matchup Stats
Never played each other

Overview: This is a really underrated matchup in my opinion. When you first look at it, you think no brainer, dad's lack of depth and Leland's loaded team equals another blowout for The_Twin_Killers. However, no Nicks, Bradshaw, and Gronkowski for Leland, is forcing him to play some risky players (Tashard Choice,Nate Burleson, and Darrius Heyward-Bey) this week. None of those guys are a given to do anything, or they can all step up and perform decent, it's a big question mark. At least Leland has Brandon Pettigrew to back up Gronkowski. That's a good guy to have as a bye week fill in. Leland is also using in the Detroit game, Roddy White, Matthew Stafford, and the Lions Defense. Roddy White has been a major disappointment so far, but if the Lions game turns into a shootout it could help him and on the other side Stafford while at the same time hurting his Lions defense. When you have Matt Forte though, you can take the risk on guys like Choice and Burleson, as Forte plays the Bucs and should be able to have his usual type of game. Dad learned the reality of his situation last week, that bye weeks are an absolute killer. He only scored 62 points against Ryan last week, but he's got Chris Johnson and Brandon Lloyd back off byes, and he'll give Eric Decker a whirl too. Witten against the Rams is great, as is Brees and Ingram against the Colts Sunday night. Like I said, it's a matchup that is deceiving, and I wouldn't be that shocked if Dad pulled off the win this week.

Yahoo Says: Dad wins 83-71
I say: Dad wins. I'm gonna go upset here and say that I really don't have faith in Dallas' rushing game no matter who they play and I don't think Nate Burleson will do much either. I think Dad just might have enought to get his 5th win of the season.
