Week 4 Results

Start em/Sit em....one of the most crucial aspects a fantasy owner has to deal with every week. Sometimes depth can be tricky, because if you have too much of a good thing, odds are you might have to chose one over the other and that decision can make or break your week. Take this week, there were 4 game changing instances of owners who made the wrong choices on who to play. For three of those owners, the result ended up being on a loss. That's how important picking the right guys on your roster to play is and it's really a crapshoot. Sometimes matchups for certain players are too good to pass up and they blow up in your face, or sometimes they don't. That's how fantasy football goes. I'm the only one of the four that made the wrong choice and still survived and got the win. Week one, I wasn't so lucky. On to the results!

Overview: Lemme tell ya, this was veryyyyyyyyyyy scary, as I fucked up BIG TIME and played Big Ben over Tony Romo and it almost cost me dearly. Say what you want about Tony Romo in real games, but in the fantasy game, he's nothin but clutch, scoring 22 points. Big Ben on the other, has NO OFFENSIVE LINE, and the Texans time after time hit the crap out of him. He finished 8 points, which was a zero TD pass performance (back to back weeks I got zero TD passes from my QB), and I really thought I was dead in the water, especially with Matt still having Phillip Rivers to go. Luckily my afternoon stepped up big time, my running backs were pretty average (10 and 8 from McCoy and Bradshaw) and again it was yet ANOTHER shitty performance by my tight end (bye Fred Davis), but Vincent Jackson just needed a half to get 100 and a score (he was injured and really didn't play much after that), Brandon Lloyd was a stud and how bout this MATT BRYANT finallllllllllly got some opportunities and got my 16 pts. The Bears D was in reality awful, letting Cam Newton do whatever the hell he wanted, but thanks to a Hester return TD, and a pick six, they got me a respectable 15. For Matt, Adrian Peterson was very disappointing. 80 yards rushing and nothing else. Guess who was bad ass?? Frank Gore of course! Yes, on Matt's bench. I don't know what Matt did to Gore, but Mr. Gore sure loves playing mind games with him. Fred Jackson had another great game and got in to the end zone, A.J. Green got a 100 yard game and Dwayne Bowe  capped a great game with 50 yard TD. Matt still have a deep receiving core, even without Kenny Britt and Santana Moss was on his bench and he scored as well. Brandon Marshall lost Chad Henne, so it was the Matt Moore show and Marshall didn't really do much. Rivers still hasn't had that one breakout game (in fact, Matt's backup Eli Manning has outperformed him two weeks straight) and he'll need get back to the Rivers of old, but with the running game working wonders, I see the  Chargers having a nice run/pass balance. How bout this decision, Matt at the last minute took out the Jets Defense for New Orleans. New Orleans got 9 points, the Jets??? 21. Matt takes it if he kept the Jets D in. That's why I say that sit/start decisions are so crucial and can win you or lose you games. In my case, it didn't affect me, in Matt's, he's now 1-3.

Overview: By far the most dramatic matchup of the season. Monday Night+Albert Rodriguez=Never good for Kenny Bybee. Kenny has some of the worst Monday night luck in fantasy football that I have ever seen. The week one debacle last year, the Shonn Greene Game, The Michael Vick game, the Matt Schaub Game, and now, the Tampa Defense game. First of all, going into the afternoon games, Kenny was down 100-31, it pretty much looked over. Then Aaron Rodgers delivered one of the greatest fantasy lines by a QB ever. 400+ yards passing ,4 passing TD's, and 2 rushing TD'S. He had one late quarter pick (man, to get that point back) to finish with an astonishing 46 points. Kenny had decided earlier in the week he was going to play Tampa Bay (playing the Curtis Painter led Colts) instead of Baltimore (against the Jets) so going into Sunday night Kenny was down 108-100. Baltimore's D was AMAZING  to say the least 3 defensive TD's and 32 points overall. Kenny thought very briefly about going with them, but stood pat with Tampa. It would be a costly mistake. Tampa's defense only mustered 7 points and Kenny lost in heartbreaking fashion by 1 points, on a Monday night yet again. Without Aaron Rodgers, his team was pretty average. Peyton Hillis was disappointing and those WR #2 and #3 are killing Kenny (6 pts  combined from Branch and Henderson). Fitz had a 100 but no score and Ryan Mathews had another solid game, but Albert's core guys were just too much. Calvin Johnson, Steve Smith, Julio Jones, and Arian Foster all provided nice days and even with Pittsburgh D only getting 1 point and Jermichael Finley held to 2 (after 26 against me, told you that would happen) Albert managed to squeak bye with the narrowest of victories. There are now no undefeated teams left in our league.

Overview- Leland comes back with authority this week and gets the biggest blowout of the week against Mike. Matt Forte was outstanding as he rushed for 200 yards (first Bear since Walter Payton to do that) and ended up with 28 points overall. Combined that with a great Hakeem Nicks game (162 and a score) and Ray Rice doing his usual (60+ rushing and 60+ rec plus a TD) and Leland's guys were firing on all cylinders. Again those WR #2 and #3 killed him (6 points combined) but that should change with the trade he made with me in acquiring Roddy White. Gronkowski was quiet this week as well. Matt Stafford and the Lions defense looked like they were in for a crappy game, but they turned it around in the 2nd half as the Lions got back to back defensive TD's and Stafford through two TD's. For Mike, Brady finally had a down to earth game, and despite great games from Greg Jennings and Michael Turner, and a decent game from Darren Sproles, the rest of his team underachieved. Antonio Gates is going to be an ongoing problem as that foot is going to be bothering him all year. Scott Chandler got Mike a big zero. Mike's #2 and #3 WR's are also going to be too inconsistent. It's going to be rough for Mike to climb up from the 1-3 start.

Key Players

Matt Forte (The_Twin_Killers) 205 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 23 receiving yards, 28 points

Ray Rice (The_Twin_Killers) 66 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 64 receiving yards, 18 points

Hakeem Nicks (The_Twin_Killers) 162 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD, 22 points

Michael Turner (Salt & Vinegar Chips) 70 rushing yards, 2 rushing TD's, 18 receiving yards, 20 points

Disappointing Players

Scott Chandler (Salt & Vinegar Chips) 8 receiving yards, 0 points

Mike Sims-Walker (The_Twin_Killers) 6 receiving yards, 0 points

Rob Gronkowski (The_Twin_Killers) 15 receiving yards, 1 points

Overview: It's all about who you play and for my dad he takes advantage of another easy matchup. It's funny because my dad has the lowest points in the entire league (and it's not even close) yet he keeps getting some nice matchups. My dad would've lost to anyone else in the league this week, he had the 2nd lowest score, he just happened to play the guy with the lowest points this week in Zach.  Drew Brees, Jason Witten, and DeSean Jackson all provided nice games for dad, but the rest of his team was pretty lethargic (even though Chris Johnson finally broke double digits). Like I said in the predictions, dad has to win as many of these sort of matchups as he can, because he starts facing higher scoring offenses, it'll be tough for him to compete. Here also is where the 4th sit em/start em mistake happened. Zach benched Vick for Ryan Fitzpatrick. I know Vick's been hurt the past couple games ,and Fitzpatrick has been on fire, but you still gotta roll with Vick cause he's capable of games like this past week. Vick threw for a career high 416 yards, and ran for an additional 75, and had 30 points, all on Ryan's bench. Fitzpatrick on the other hand? Not even 200 yards passing on 0 TD's for 7 points. He plays Vick, he wins. That simple. Also, Jordy Nelson was one of the main trade components in that trade involving Peyton Hillis, yet again he doesn't play him. Perplexing and Jordy Nelson sat on his bench with 91 receiving yards and a TD. David Nelson who Zach went with had 18 yards. I think Jordy Nelson is too inconsistent, but you still have to play him if you traded for him. Zach's team was pretty brutal, as his kicker tied Willis McGahee for most points on his team with 11. This is a product of same unlucky injuries, but Zach could redeem himself next week as he plays me and I'll be short on players cause of bye weeks. Dad, on the other hand, gets another winnable matchup against Cindy and her Andre Johnson-less team.

Key Players

DeSean Jackson (The Bad Bobofies) 171 yards receiving, 17 points

Jason Witten (The Bad Bobofies) 94 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD, 15 points

Willis McGahee (Shredders) 103 rushing yards, 10 receiving yards, 11 points

Disappointing Players

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Shredders) 199 passing yards, 5 rushing yards, 7 points

David Nelson (Shredders) 18 receiving yards, 1 point

Stevie Johnson (Shredders) 58 receiving yards, 5 points

Jeremy Maclin (Shredders) 74 receiving yards, 1 fumble lost, 5 points

Nate Burleson (The Bad Bobofies) 16 receiving yards, 1 points

Santonio Holmes (The Bad Bobofies) 33 receiving yards, 3 points

Hoosier Daddy (3-1)         99

Overview: If Andre Johnson hadn't got hurt in the 1st half, who knows what could've happened, but he did and Ryan ends up picking up the W to go to 3-1. Cam Newton paid off for Ryan, and with Flacco as his only backup, it's safe to say Ryan will be rolling with Cam from now on. 370+ passing yards  1 TD and 2 rushing TDs is what Cam was able to do and if it wasn't for Aaron Rodgers, Newton would've had the performance of the week. Outside of Cam though, only Jimmy Graham had an outstanding game (132 and a score) with all the rest of his position players not cracking double digit points. Cindy of course lost Andre Johnson and he might be out a couple weeks which will significantly hurt her lineup. Wes Welker was again a stud, with 158 and a score, while McFadden was kept to just 75 yards rushing and 11 points overall. Matt Ryan was decent (almost 300 and one score) and the Packers defense provided some punch with 15. It's official though, Shonn Greene SUCKS. Period. He's horrible and he's one of the biggest busts of the last couple years. The thing is, Cindy only has Marshawn Lynch as a backup. She's definitely in trouble with that RB #2 position.

Key Players

Cam Newton (Hoosier Daddy) 374 passing yards, 1 passing TD, 1 INT, 35 rushing yards, 2 rushing TD's, 32 points

Jimmy Graham (Hoosier Daddy) 132 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD, 19 points

Wes Welker (Da Boyz) 158 receiving yards ,1 receiving TD, 21 points

Disappointing Players

Andre Johnson (Da Boyz) 36 yards receiving, 3 points (left game with injury)

Shonn Greene (Da Boyz) 23 rushing yards, 2 points

Anquan Boldin (Hoosier Daddy) 28 receiving yards, 2 points
