Week 5 Results

After 5 weeks the sole team on top of the league with a 4-1 record belongs to.....my dad. Yup as of today, my dad is 1st place in league standings and owns it by himself. How could a guy who has the lowest total points in the league by far not only have a 4-1 record but be in 1st??? He also has the least points against in the league by a wide margin. I don't know what it is, but for some reason, teams seem to play down when playing my dad. My dad hasn't broken 90 points in any week yet, but still is piling in the wins. It's all about who you play and when, and so far my dad has been able to take advantage of matchups. Congrats Dad!!! On to the Week 5 results!

RuggedRaymontHarris (3-2)     111
Shredders (1-4)                              97

Overview: This was much closer than the score suggests, as it came down to the Sunday night game with me being down a  point with Greg Jennings and Matt Bryant to go and Zach had Jordy Nelson. It really wasn't put away until the 2nd half when Greg Jennings found the end zone. Matt Bryant only had 2 points off extra points and luckily Jordy Nelson only had 17 yards receiving. The story of this matchup was BenJarvus Green-Ellis. He was the throw in in the Greg Jennings trade, and the only reason I started him was because I literally had no one else. He came up HUUUUUGE though, 136 yards rushing and two TD's. An unbelievable performance that really helped me win this matchup. Mark Sanchez was eh, he wasn't good but he wasn't bad. Still managed a couple of TD passes, but an underwhelming less than 200 yards passing performance. Thankfully no turnovers, and now Romo will be back and I shouldn't have to worry about starting another QB from this point on (I do love Big Ben getting me 0 TD's last week, and going bonkers and throwing 5 this week). Vincent Jackson continues his alternate hot/cold games and against a shoddy Denver Defense he did nothing of note. 34 yards receiving is all he got and hopefully the bye week will help him recover from his hamstring injury. DeSean Jackson was good with 86 and a score, while LeSean McCoy continues to make me look smart by getting him at #10 with another 80 yard and a score effort. I FINALLY got a little production from my TE position as Gresham scored a TD but only had 21 yards to go with it. Still 8 points from the TE position is bad ass for me. The Bengals D was looking like yet another questionable play, until they got a weird last second defense TD at the end of the 4th quarter against the Jags. On Zach's side, despite 4 picks, Michael Vick still managed to have a great fantasy day, 315 yards passing and 90 yards rushing and two passing TD's will do that for you. Also Willis McGahee continues to be serviceable as he 125 yards rushing and a two point conversion. Vernon Davis added a couple TD's as he's become a go to guy again. Maclin had 50 and a score. Stevie Johnson was disappointing with only 29 yards receiving and Cedric Benson was his usual bla self with 53 yards rushing. Zach plays Kenny next week and there's a good chance he'll drop to 1-5 after week 6.

Dr Wily's Robots (2-3)         132
Take Dat Wit Chu (3-2)       104

Overview: Matt got off to a SCORCHING start as Adrian Peterson scored 3 TD's in the first quarter alone and at the same time Fred Jackson, Dwayne Bowe, and A.J. Green were all tearing it up as well and it was just too much for Kenny to overcome yet again.  Bowe, Jackson, and Peterson all scored 24 or more points, and A.J. Green had 90 and a score as well. It didn't matter that Jacoby Jones and Dustin Keller combined for 0 points, the damage had already been done. Phillip Rivers still hasn't had that one defining game, but a rushing TD saved his overall performance. Even Mason Crosby managed 15 points. This is what is scary about Matt's team, it's the 2nd time this season we've seen that his players have to capability to just go off. Kenny didn't even have a bad showing. He scored over 100 points, led once again by Aaron Rodgers (who only had 396 passing yards and 2 passing TD's, what a bust, lol).  Jahvid Best also broke out big time with 163 rushing yards and a score. Any other matchup and you might be looking at a win, but it was just the wrong place and time for Kenny who's now on a 2 game losing streak after starting 3-0. Matt gets a season saving win because  a 1-4 start would've been difficult to climb out of.

Channel 4 News Team (3-2)           86
Salt & Vinegar Chips (1-4)            76

Overview: Well, this was closer than expected as Mike showed off his new team against Albert and the recently acquired Tom Brady. Matt Schaub actually outperformed Tom Brady, but Albert's combination of Megatron (surprise, he got his 9th TD in 5 games) Arian Foster and surprisingly DeAngelo Williams (115 and a score) was just too much. The rest of Albert's team was pretty mediocre,  Jermichael Finley didn't do much, and Julio Jones got hurt.  Sidney Rice was shut down pretty much as well. Albert thought playing the Titans D against the hurt Big Ben was gonna be money and it backfired big time as Roethlisberger threw 5 TD passes.  Beanie and Michael Turner had semi productive games (under 100 yards rushing but a TD a piece) and Steve Smith proved to be worth the trade (79 yards and a score), but everyone else was underwhelming.  I don't Scott Chandler is the answer for Gates replacement (0 pts two straight games), and Colston and Nate Washington were marginal (69 receiving yards a piece). Albert was really lucky Posey's guys underperformed because this was a very losable matchup.  Mike goes down to 1-4 now, and hopefully his new look team can turn it around quickly and Albert wins his 3rd straight in a row after losing the first 2 weeks of the season. His team looks primed for a big run again and has to be considered one of the favorites to win it all.

Scott Chandler (Salt & Vinegar Chips) 4 receiving yards, 0 pts (2nd straight 0 pt game)

Julio Jones (Channel 4 News Team) 17 rushing yards, 16 receiving yards, 2 pts (left game with injury)

Sidney Rice (Channel 4 News Team) 38 yards receiving, 3 pts

The Bad Bobofies (4-1)     79
Da Boyz (2-3)                     75

Overview: Talk about luck, despite all three of dad's receivers combining for two whole points, Dad STILL has enough to sneak out a 4 points win. Drew Brees did the heavy lifting yet again, while dad got solid yet unspectacular games from Chris Johnson (finally found the endzone) and Mark Ingram (also found paydirt). Dad's second highest scorer was actually the Vikings defense, which was a late minute plug n play and netted him 16 pts. Had he stuck with  New England, he'd be 3-2 with everyone else. Cindy's team was just dreadful outside of Wes Welker and Shonn Greene (believe it or not he was good, 80 and a score). Welker didn't score but still netted 125 receiving yards. Matt Ryan continues to disappoint (barely over 160 yards passing with a passing TD and 2 picks). Pierre Garcon was on Cindy's bench as she played Robert Meachem over him in place of the injured Andre Johnson. Garcon ended up with 24 points, Meachem 3. Another move that would've secured a Cindy victory.

Key Players

Drew Brees (The Bad Bobofies) 359 passing yards, 2 passing TD's, 1 INT, 21 pts

Shonn Greene (Da Boyz) 83 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 9 receiving yards, 14 pts

Disappointing Players

Eric Decker (The Bad Bobofies) -4 receiving yards, 0 pts

Brandon Lloyd (The Bad Bobofies) 20 receiving yards, 2 pts

Nate Burleson (The Bad Bobofies) 6 receiving yards, 4 rushing yards, 0 pts

Matt Ryan (Da Boyz) 167 passings yards, 1 passing TD, 2 INT, 9 rushing yards, 8 pts

Darren McFadden (Da Boyz) 51 rushing yards, 17 receiving yards, 6 pts

The_Twin_Killers (3-2)      111
Hoosier Daddy (3-2)             84

Overview: You cannot sleep on Leland's team, as he quietly made a nice trade to acquire Roddy White and Ahmad Bradshaw to strengthen an already lethal team. Leland took care of Ryan pretty easily this week and kudos goes to him for playing Victor Cruz who despite reports that Manningham was still the #2 receiver went OFF with 161 receiving yards and a TD. Hakeem Nicks had a good game as well with 60 and a score. Sebastian Janikowski actually tied for Leland's lead in scoring with 20 pts including hitting an unbelievable 3 50 yard field goals. Forte had a nice game but didn't score and Matt Stafford was kind of pedestrian with 219 yards passing and a couple TD passes. But it was enough to knock off Ryan who had to spot start Isaac Redman because of Rashard Mendenall's injury and Redman wasn't great with only 49 yards rushing. Cam Newton was his usual bad ass self and that move continues to pay dividends for Ryan. 224 passing, two TD's and of course another rushing TD led Ryan's team in scoring. Mike Wallace also did his thing, with 80 and a score and really Wallace, MJD (80 and a score) Newton and Jimmy Graham (129 receiving yards) tried to keep Ryan in this matchup, but it wasn't enough, has Mike Williams of Tampa Bay continues to be a bust (28 yards, fumble lost). Ryan has too inconsistent play from his WR #2 and #3 positions and sometimes that hurts his chances at winning, like here where he got only 4 points combined from Plaxico and Williams.

Key Players

Cam Newton (Hoosier Daddy) 224 passing yards, 2 passing TD's, 1 INT, 27 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 23 points

Victor Cruz (The_Twin_Killers) 161 yards receiving, 1 receiving TD, 1 fumble lost, 20 pts

Sebastian Janikowski (The_Twin_Killers) 4 Field Goals Made (3 50+) 1 XP, 20 pts

Disappointing Players

Mike Williams (Hoosier Daddy) 28 yards receiving, 1 fumble lost, 0 pts

Rob Gronkowski (The_Twin_Killers) 31 receiving yards, 3 pts
