Week 1 Matchups and Predictions

Week 1 officially starts tomorrow and quite a few teams will have players from the Packers-Saints game to kick off the Fantasy Football season. Here's the matchups and my predictions on who'll win week 1 of the Wayne McGarrity Bowl

Take Dat Wit Chu (Kenny Bybee) vs
Rugged Rayment Harris (Chris Puente)

Overview- Of course probably the biggest fantasy rivalry of our group. Week 1 pits me and Kenny, all too familar foes. Kenny off the bat gets Aaron Rodgers in tomorrow's game and that has the potential to bring in a lot of points. That's a huge advantage in the QB matchup as I have Romo against the Jets D. A shaky O-Line and a top defense might equal a marginal game for Tony Romo. I'll have Colston tomorrow and hopefully if it's a shootout Colston will get his. It'd be very important to get a good game from my WR #3. Both Ahmad Bradshaw and LeSean McCoy have tasty matchups against the Redskins and Rams respectively while Felix faces that same tough Jets D Romo does. DeAngelo has a nice matchup against the Cards, but you have to wonder how much of the workload he'll be getting with Jonathan Stewart figuring to be in the mix. Maclin and Fitz have excellent matchups as well and Austin is tied to the Jets game. On my side Roddy White faces a tough Bears D, but hopefully he'll be able to still get his, while Vincent Jackson should have a nice game against the Vikings. I hope a change of QB doesn't hurt Mercedes Lewis, but I think the TE matchup is pretty even with Tony Gonzalez  going against the Bears. The only thing worth mentioned on Kickers and Defense is I'm playing Houston's D in a surprise move, hoping that Kerry Collins won't be really adjusted to be the starter and hoping Houston can force some turnovers.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Kenny Wins 78-77
I Say: Kenny Wins- I think Rodgers is going to be a big difference maker and he and Fitz might do enough to cover up any weak performances from the rest of his team.

Salt & Vinegar Chips (Mike Posey) vs
The Bad Bobofies (Robert Puente)

Overview- My dad is making his fantasy debut and it starts tomorrow right off the bat with Drew Brees. Posey has Tom Brady on Monday opposite Brees so that's definitely an interesting matchup to watch.  I'm loving my dad's receivers big time here, especially with Dallas's shaky D possibly not having Terrence Newman and Mike Jenkins. Santonio Holmes should have fun picking that apart. Also Desean against the Rams and Ochocinco againts the Dolphins are great matchups for those two. Posey will use up Greg Jennings and Lance Moore (He's out, if Posey doesn't change this, he'll be in a big hole off the bat). Let's assume Posey smartens up and plays Malcolm Floyd instead, he's got a nice match up against the Vikings. RB wise not a huge fan of Posey's Turner/Green-Ellis combo. Turner against the Bears D, and though Green-Ellis has a good matchup against Miami, I don't know how much of an impact he'll make. My dad on the other hand has Chris Johnson against the Jags. Will Johnson be rusty is the be question. My dad due to lack of a legit #2 will have to play Brandon Jacobs and that could be a big question mark. Gates and Witten cancel each other out and my dad should have the advantage defense wise (New England vs Atlanta)

Predictions: Yahoo Says-Dad wins 79-78
I say- Dad Wins- If Posey doesn't change his lineup, this is done. A zero is very costly. Even if he does, I think my dad still will pick up his first ever fantasy W.

Channel 4 News Team (Albert Rodriguez) vs
Hoosier Daddy (Ryan McKinnis)

Overview- The defending champion will have a sure fire QB advantage in my opinion (Schuab vs Flacco). Ryan has too many guys tied up in this Baltimore-Steeler game (Flacco, Mendenhall, Wallace, Boldin) and I'm not sure that's a good thing. Mike Williams might be a sleeper and produce some big numbers against the Detroit. Another major question mark, Arian Foster. Will he play and how effective will he be? That could be a huge game changer. Also looking at it, Julio Jones and Dez Bryant against the Bears/Jets. That could be brutal. Calvin against Tampa Bay should be fine. Ryan actually might have the edge at RB #2 with MJD against the Titans while Steven Jackson plays Philly. The battle of the tight ends begins tomorrow Albert has JerMichael Finley and Ryan has Jimmy Graham. I'd take Albert's D (Pittsburgh) over Ryan's D (Philly).

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Albert takes it 90-80
I say-Ryan Wins- I'm gonna go upset here, at first looking at it I thought this was a no-brainer, but I could see Julio Jones and Dez having minimal impact this week and Arian Foster's availability scares me a little bit. I could definitely see Ryan pulling off the W.

Dr. Wily's Robots (Matt Gonzales) vs
Da Boyz (Cindy Crisp)

Overview- Cindy's debut couldn't have come against a tougher opponent. Rivers against Minny Ryan against Bears, advantage Matt. Can't wait to see if the Brandon Marshall of old will show up but even he doesn't Cindy has Reggie Wayne he's value takes a stumble with Kerry Collins at QB and Matt has Kenny Britt and Dwayne Bowe both with excellent matchups.  Cindy has Andre Johnson and he should be fine against Indy, but will Wes Welker be ready Monday night? McFadden and Shonn Greene have matchups they can exploit but so do Peterson and Gore and I'll take Peterson and Gore over McFadden and Greene any day of the week so advantage Matt there. I could see Kerry Collins going to Clark all day while Owen Daniels could be a factor as well if this turns into a shootout, still advantage Matt. And big time advantage Matt on the Defense since the Jets will feast on a shaky Dallas O-line while , Green Bay could give up big points to the Saints.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Matt wins 90-79
I say: Matt wins- Yeah I think Matt's got this. Too good of a team to lose week 1.

Shredders (Zach Schroeder) vs
The Twin Killers (Leeland Lawrence)

Overview- Last matchup of the week and it's a battle of two new owners in our league, but in reality Leeland probably has more experience than Zach. Zach has Vick and there's the potential to get MAJOR points against the Rams. Matthew Stafford against the Bucs is not too bad, but advantage Zach big time if Vick plays like Vick. Leeland is rolling out Ray Rice and Lee Evans against Pittsburgh, and while Rice could get his, Evans is one of the possibilities to get either 0 or score big points. It's all or nothing usually with him. Leeland has Manningham/Nicks against the Redskins is good, but again they'll be taking each other points away. Zach has great RB Matchups with Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis (Hillis better be able to tear apart the Bengals) while Leeland's other RB is Matt Forte against Atlanta which isn't bad. Now we talked about the weakness of Zach's WR core, but Brandon Lloyd, Stevie Johnson have great matchups, but I'm worried about Mike Thomas now that Luke McCown is the QB. Obvious matchups advantages for Zach with both TE's (Vernon Davis vs Gronkowski) and Defense (Giants though banged up, should still force some turnovers against the Skins, not so sure about the Lions D against Tampa).

Predictions
Yahoo Says-Zach win 98-76
I Say- Zach Wins- Wow Yahoo has Zach blowing Leeland out, it's entirely possible, but I think it'll be closer than what Yahoo says. I think this week Zach does have the team with better matchups though.

Can't wait for tomorrow, let the games begin!!
