Opening Kickoff Overview/Week 1 Matchups and Predictions

Well to say work has kicked my ass this week is an understatement. I usually have the matchups/predictions out before Thursday night, but due to work, I haven't had a chance until now. So I'm combining the Thursday Night Overview/Week 1 Matchups post. Last night made some people really happy (Alex should be thrilled with his 24.5 Marshawn Lynch performance..beast mode ain't dead yet), realllly mad (Aaron Rodgers with his putrid under 10 points, and Eddie Lacy not doing much and also suffering a concussion. That couldn't have thrilled Leland and Ryan), or content (Randall Cobb got me a TD and beat his projected points, Jordy Nelson had a nice PPR game for Matt, as did Percy Harvin who looked very impressive for Albert and will be a top tier fantasy receiver if he stays healthy). All in All a great start for some and not so much for others, but at the end of the day, it's only one player and there's PLENTY of football yet to be played so hope is not all lost. Onto the Matchups and Predictions for week 1!

Arturo's Beans (0-0) vs
Nexxxxt! (0-0)

Matchup Stats
All Time Record: I lead series 3-2-1
Last Matchup: Leland beat me 90-89.5 in Week 12 of the 2013 Season

Already Played: Aaron Rodgers (Nexxxt!) Randall Cobb (Arturo's Beans)

Key Players
Arturo's Beans: Matthew Stafford (Giants) Brandon Marshall (Bills) LeSean McCoy (Jaguars) Vernon Davis (Cowboys)

Nexxxxt!: Doug Martin (Panthers) Keenan Allen (Cardinals) Michael Floyd (Chargers)

Wild Cards
Arturo's Beans: Joique Bell and Chris Johnson Workload. Rueben Randle targets

Nexxxxt!: Unpredictability of Justin Hunter/Brandin Cooks LaDarius Green. Ben Tate first game as full time back.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: I win 100-78
I Say: I win, I was a little hesitant to pick me but after surviving Aaron Rodgers and getting a nice game from Randall Cobb, I think I have a more than solid chance of winning week #1. Leland's team scares me because of the unknown, his guys could really blow up, I just think with what's left I have the better team.

Rocket Man (0-0) vs
Winter is Here (0-0)

No Matchup Stats

Already Played: Marshawn Lynch (Alex)

Key Players
Rocket Man: Cam Newton (Bucs) Julio Jones (Saints) Victor Cruz (Lions) DeMarco Murray (49ers) Shane Vereen (Dolphins) Jordan Cameron (Steelers)

Winter Is Here: Drew Brees (Falcons) DeSean Jackson (Texans) Reggie Bush (Giants) Rob Gronkowski (Dolphins)

Wild Cards
Rocket Man: Cam Newton Game Time Decision. 1st real game back from injuries for Jeremy Maclin and Julio Jones

Winter Is Here: Welker's Suspension. Gronk's health. Reggie Bush and Stevan Ridley's workload

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Alex wins 103-94
I Say: Eugene wins. Despite the huge performance from Marshawn Lynch, I'm gonna say Eugene has more depth and can overcome the initial big deficit and pick up win #1. Of course if Cam Newton ends up not playing, that could be a huge blow, but with too many questions about Health and Workload on Alex's side,  I think Eugene managers to get by in a very tough matchup.

The Bad Robofies (0-0) vs
JTG's Warehouse (0-0)

Matchup Stats
All Time Record: Drew Leads series 3-0
Last Matchup: Drew beat Dad 110-86.5 in Week 4 of the 2013 Season

Key Players
The Bad Robofies: Tom Brady (Dolphins) Torrey Smith (Bengals) Gio Bernard (Ravens) Alfred Morris (Texans) Jimmy Graham (Falcons)

JTG's Warehouse: Jay Cutler (Bills) Adrian Peterson (Rams) Julius Thomas (Colts)

Wild Cards
The Bad Robofies: Gio's workload. Production from WR outside of Torrey Smith.

JTG's Warehouse: Andre Ellington's injury. C.J. Spiller's role in offense. Tough matchup for Peterson. WR production

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Dad wins 94-90
I Say: Dad wins. I originally picked  Drew to win on the League Pick Em, but with Friday's news of Andre Ellington being pretty much ruled out for Week 1 (slight possibility he plays, but it's a late Monday Night game so Drew can't take that chance) and Buffalo basically confirming Fred Jackson is the starting running back meaning C.J. Spiller's role won't be as thought, I give the slight edge to Dad now. If Dad wins, it'll be his first win against Drew ever.

Baby Face Bybee (0-0) vs
Bigger Balls (0-0)

Matchup Stats
All Time Record: Mayra leads series 3-2
Last Matchup: Kenny beat Mayra 120-106.5 in the 1st round of the 2013 Wane McGarity Bowl Playoffs

Key Players

Baby Face Bybee: Tony Romo/Colin Kaepernick (49ers/Cowboys) Calvin Johnson (Giants) Demaryius Thomas (Colts)  Vincent Jackson (Panthers) Ryan Mathews (Cardinals) Frank Gore (Cowboys)

Bigger Balls: Andrew Luck (Broncos) Dez Bryant (49ers) Antonio Brown (Browns) Larry Fitzgerald (Chargers) Le'veon Bell (Browns)

Wild Cards
Baby Face Bybee: Romo or Kaep? Ryan Mathews usage/production. Bernard Pierce at flex

Bigger Balls: Pierre Thomas RB #2. Kyle Rudolph the real deal? Le'veon Ball timeshare.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Kenny wins 101-97
I Say: Kenny wins, Mayra may lead the series, but Kenny got the most important win of their head to head matchup last year in the playoffs. This should be a great matchup and I think Kenny skates by barely.

Channel 4 News Team (0-0) vs
Hoosier Daddy (0-0)

Matchup Stats
All Time Record: Albert leads series 6-5
Last Matchup: Ryan beat Albert 114-82 in the 11th place game of the Michael Wiley Loser Bowl

Already Played: Percy Harvin (Albert) Eddie Lacy (Ryan)

Key Players
Channel 4 News Team: Peyton Manning (Colts) A.J. Green (Ravens) Cordarrelle Patterson (Rams) Arian Foster (Redskins)

Hoosier Daddy: Nick Foles (Jaguars) Alshon Jeffrey (Bills) Roddy White (Saints) Pierre Garcon (Texans) Rashad Jennings (Lions)

Wild Cards
Channel 4 News Team: Foster's health. Patterson real deal? Fred Jackson #1 back in Buffalo. Can Witten and Boldin still get the job done?

Hoosier Daddy: Foles production. Garcon losing targets? Jennings tough matchup. Jeremy Hill flex play.

Predictions
Yahoo says: Albert wins 100-86
I Say: Albert wins. You can tell these two are "Original 8" members as this is their 12th head to head matchup against each other. Gonna have to flip on this on well after Percy Harvin's performance and Eddie Lacy's underperformance. The news that Fred Jackson is the lead back for Buffalo is great news for Albert who won't have to trudge out MJD in that horrible Oakland offense this week. I think with Ryan being in the hole that he is with his best player failing to excel, Albert's going to take this one.

Dr. Light's Robots (0-0) vs
Shock The Monkey (0-0)

Matchup Stats
All Time Record: Matt leads series 1-0
Last Matchup: Matt thoroughly DESTROYED Mark 105-49.5 in Week 10 in the 2013 season

Already Played: Jordy Nelson (Matt)

Key Players
Dr. Light's Robots: Robert Griffin III (Texans) Andre Johnson (Redskins) Emmanuel Sanders (Colts) Jamaal Charles (Titans)

Shock The Monkey: Matt Ryan (Saints) Michael Crabtree* (Cowboys) Matt Forte (Bills) Montee Ball (Colts) Toby Gerhart (Eagles)

Wild Cards
Dr. Light's Robots: RGIII first real game in new offense. Zac Stacy true #1? Trent Richardson at flex.  Emmanuel Sanders role with Welker out.

Shock The Monkey: Crabtree's injury. Production from Wallace and Decker. Gerhart featured back in Jacksonville.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Matt wins 102-96
I Say: Mark wins. This is really tough. To me Matt has a distinctive advantage on the WR side, while Mark has an QB and RB advantage. I know Jordy already provided solid points for Matt, but I'm gonna stick with my original pick and says Mark pulls this out, and makes up for what was an embarrassing Week 10 loss last season.

That'll do it! Let the games begin!!
