Kevin Olgetree is the #1 ranked fantasy football player in Yahoo. Ok Ok..there's only been one game played, but still even then..it's not Hakeem Nicks, Miles Austin, Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Victor Cruz, or Demarco Murray. it's Kevin Olgetree who had zero career TD's coming into last night. Last night marked the official start of the 2012 season and fantasy football season as well. 7 teams had players go last night and there were both good and bad performances. The good news in real football was that the Dallas Cowboys were able to survive and beat the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants on the road. Here's a breakdown of what teams had players go last night and how they did.
Breaking Bybee- For a half, it wasn't looking good for Kenny as Tony Romo and Miles Austin hadn't really done anything, in fact Miles Austin had 1 catch for 9 yards up to the beginning of the 4th quarter. Then he took over the 4th and finished with a respectable 73 yards and an amazing TD catch on a 1st and 30 down. Romo was able to survive an ugly pick and a shoddy o-line with a 300 yard, 3 TD performance. You really can't ask for a better start, and it's going to be difficult challenge for me to get that kind of production from my QB and WR 2.
Dr Wily's Robots- What a disappointing start for Matt. Hakeem Nicks was barely a factor, 4 catches for 38 yards. Not exactly an elite performance Matt was hoping for. That's why these games are played on the field and not on paper. Matt better hope for a better effort from the rest of his team.
Chardee McDennis- Kickers are very unpredictable, and it's all about opportunities. Dan Bailey only got one FG shot, and he hit it, plus 3 extra points. You'd like more, but you take what you get at this position. Knowing the Hakeem Nicks was ineffective though, will help take the sting out of a 6 pt kicker performance.
The_Twin_Killers- If you're Leland, you have to be disappointed with Eli Manning and Victor Cruz. Cruz dropped 3 passes, and only had 58 yards receiving, while a late quarter TD saved what would've been a horrible Eli performance (just a little over 200 yards passing). I, along with a lot of others were expecting a shootout, but the Giants offense just never got it going. This might be the break Mike needs to have a shot to win.
Richard Head- Dez Bryant had a decent game (4 for 85 yards), but it could've been much better. He seems to disappear in the 2nd half and most of his damage was done in the 1st half. Mike's lucky that Victor Cruz and Eli were both disappointing. He has to be happy with the position he's in.
The Bad Robofies- Dad sweated out an ineffective 1st half of Demarco Murray, only for Murray to turn it around in the 2nd half. 130 rushing yards is pretty damn good, and although a TD would be nice, you can't argue with a 14 point performance. Good start for Dad (who also grabbed Olgetree off free agents, btw).
Hoosier Daddy- We might already have a candidate for the Tony Romo Bad Decision award. If Ryan loses, he might look back at not starting Ahmad Bradshaw over Michael Turner. Bradshaw had 78 rushing yards and a TD, and finished with 15 points. The Giants defense was pedestrian outside of the Romo interception that was almost returned back for a TD. Only 4 points for them.
Me, Albert, and Mayra had no players play. Our season still officially starts Sunday.
