Well...leave it to Thursday Night Football to do its best job to kill the hopes and dreams of those left in the playoffs. What a TERRIBLE game this was and unfortunately the players used in this game will for the most part disappointing. Albert got absolutely SAVED by a 1 yard Doug Baldwin TD (which had to piss Ryan off because a) he has Thomas Rawls and Rawls didn't get one goalline touch in that series and b) he's playing AGAINST Albert) otherwise Baldwin would've been an absolute dud. The other 3 guys used WERE Duds. Unfortunately for Ryan, Thomas Rawls was super bad and in the literal sense. It was so bad, Rawls ended up with only 1 more yard than the SEAHAWKS PUNTER. He just could never get it going, and actually LOST points in the 2nd half for Ryan. Terrible start, and yes that combined with a salvageable Doug Baldwin for Albert and I'm officially worried for Ryan. The tide might have turned in that matchup, although I don't want to overreact too much since it's only 1 play for each team. In the other matchup, Alex struck out big time on TWO players. Tavon Austin and Jimmy Graham were only able to combine for 7.8 points last night. For Austin, that's not the least surprising, I expected a dud at that WR3 position because of the terrible options, but Jimmy Graham, that play hurts. It's a setback for sure, but I'm not AS worried about Alex as I was Ryan only because Alex is playing an injury plagued team and Julio Jones status is still up in there air. I still Alex can survive this, though the margin of error has shrunk considerably after those two plays. The bottom line? Thursday Night Football is total garbage. Here are the Week 1 Awards.
Wane McGarity Stud Of The Week
Le'Veon Bell (SCLSU MudDogs)
Nearly 50 points in a must win playoff game..c'mon now this was a no brainer
Michael Wiley Dud Of The Week
Derek Carr (Woe Is You)
Carr's Thursday Night performance last week absolutely CRUSHED any real chance Mike had at beating Albert. Under 5 points from a QB and there was no Le'veon Bell type on Mike's roster to save him like Bell saved Alex from Drew Brees' shitty game.
Drew Bennett Sneaky Surprise Award
Taylor Gabriel (Woe Is You)
I know it's not a real consolation, but this was a great spot start with Julio Jones out. These kind of moves are what got Mike into the playoffs in the first place, and though he lost, credit where credit is due for a nice play.
No Jay Cutler Bad Decision Award this week
