Well it was the Matt Forte show Thursday Night and unfortunately for me, I played against him. I wasn't confident I was winning even with a average Forte performance, but when he nearly triples his projected scoring and I've already used my RB1 in LeSean McCoy who was awful, I'm already scouting Albert for next week. Always frustrating to be done after Thursday night, but such is life. Forte dominated with 100 yards and 3 TD's, and barring injury, he's a shoo in to be an RB1 the rest of the way. It's funny in the years I've owned him, he's always been injury prone and good but not great, but when he's on someone else's roster, he performs lights out. Bad matchups are going to kill me early in the season as most of my guys have them (I've looked at future weeks). That's probably the reason Yahoo has me winning a pathetic 4 games this year. So besides my impending 1-1 record, Ryan took a gamble on Sammy Watkins and it didn't pay off. Watkins was pretty much nonexistent and Ryan definitely has a wide receiver problem on his hands. Michael Crabtree seems to be his best receiver and while he's a good option, he's nowhere near a #1 receiver for fantasy purposes. For Mike...man is there any other receiver more underrated than Eric Decker? That dude gets little respect, but game in and game out he just flat out DELIVERS. 6 catches for 126 and a score. It's a damn shame Posey lost Keenan Allen to that season ending injury, because even though I don't think it's all lost for Mike, his team would've been so hard to beat with that receiver core. Although Dad's gotta be upset he's playing against Decker, it could've been MUCH MUCH worse as Brandon Marshall looked like he potentially suffered a season ending knee injury. It looked REALLY bad. But lo and behold, because Marshall is a WARRIOR, he came back and had a good game himself with 6 catches for 101 yards. Those were the only guys relevant for this week's Thursday night games. Onto the Week 1 Awards.
Wane McGarity Stud Of The Week
Antonio Brown
Alex was pretty close to pulling off a HUGE upset, but Antonio Brown made sure that wasn't going to happen. Brown scored nearly 29 points to help keep Alex at bay. He's the #1 Fantasy Football player for a reason, and any team that owns him is definitely not at any kind of competitive disadvantage.
Michael Wiley Dud Of The Week
Dez Bryant
There were worries about Dez before the draft and man did those worries become reality. 1 catch for 8 yards in Dez's first game of the season. Not good. Mark didn't spend a first round pick to get that kind of production. Hopefully it's an anomaly, because if not, Mark can't survive this season with this kind of Dez.
Jay Cutler Bad Decision Award
Mark Plays Darren Sproles over Danny Woodhead
I usually don't give this nor the Surprise Start award out Week 1 because teams generally stick to their lineups they drafted, but this was a head scratcher to me because Woodhead is the far superior talent to Sproles and Mark inexplicably benched him. It wouldn't have mattered in the long run, but still for points, Woodhead more than tripled Sproles output. I doubt Mark does that again unless it's a bye week situation.
There is no Drew Bennett Sneaky Surprise Start Award this week.
