Thursday Night Overview/Week 3 Awards

Miami Dolphins v Cincinnati Bengals : News Photo
I seriously don't get it...I don't fucking get it...you will never convince me jinxes and curses don't exist. You wanna know why I'm so pessimistic and negative??? You wanna know why when I don't pick myself to win it's not because I'm trying to "reverse jinx" it's because I KNOW my LUCK and my TEAM and know I'm not going to fucking win. Because The Thursday Night Football Curse IS REAL. Literally NOTHING goes right EVER for me on Thursdays...it's either A)injuries B)underperformances C)guys blow up on other teams. I guess it pisses me off even more this year because how can you have any kind of fun knowing you're done BEFORE SUNDAY?! Week after fucking week, I do this column and I'm down 20 points...30 points..and it's over..like that...the week is fucking over before it officially begins! 3 straight fucking weeks of this bullshit. Who DIDN'T SEE DEVANTE PARKER GETTING 3 POINTS?! WHO DIDN'T SEE THE BENGALS DOING WHATEVER THEY WANT BUT SCOREING FUCKING TOUCHDOWNS...5 FG'S...5 FG'S ON THE WEEK I START ANDY FUCKING DALTON...SHOULD'VE JUST STARTED MOTHERFUCKING ELI. And just like that...again...I'm a 30 point dog...30 FUCKING POINT DOG....and here comes 1-3. I love that it's not even injuries that are fucking me over...it's just plain old flat out shitty drafting. I suck at it..period. There's zero I can do..and it's beyond maddening.  I can't do this much longer...I swear...nothing is more beyond frustrating. It's not even October and I don't even wanna play this shit anymore. What for?! I'm 3 losses away from this season being officially over (and really 2 because yeah FUCKING right I beat Leland in Week 6) and I don't even get a chance for shit because I'm in such a big hole ALL THE TIME. Look at the last 3 matchups and predictions...I've called EVERY LET DOWN...I know what the fuck I'm talking about. I just...I dunno...I can't be putting myself through this shit week after fucking week. I see what Kenny means..this shit isn't fun anymore...and I'm really close to calling it a day with this shit. I hate football...i hate this game...I fucking hate everything about it and it's not good. (and I know there are other teams struggling at the moment, but guess what...they have real lives and this shit IS just a game to them...it's not a big deal, it's all fun and "maybe we'll get that win next week"...they have more important things to deal with, families, significant others, kids, jobs...I obviously don't...this is all I have...so when this sucks...it sucks bad).

Not always about the final stats (though they were good). He singled handedly ripped my heart out and beat me last week.

Can't have one your better players get a zero while playing against Drew's decimated team. At least Gronk had an injury and game flow excuse.

Jay Cutler Bad Decision Award
Alex Starting An Inactive Tight End
San Francisco 49ers v Seattle Seahawks : News Photo
Every year someone does it...and it typically costs people the W (unless you're playing me than you can be Albert and start an inactive Tight End and still win). If Alex is fighting for a playoff spot, this loss will come back to haunt him.

Drew Bennett Sneaky Surprise Awards
Brandon Coleman (BigBadBob)
New Orleans Saints v New York Giants : News Photo
Thought it didn't unfortunately result in a win..it was a heads up sneaky spot start that Dad went with who was next in line when Willie Snead was declared inactive. If Mohammad Sanu hadn't gotten hurt, Dad could've pulled off a major upset against Mayra. Brandon Coleman filled in very nicely.

Week 4 Matchups and Predictions

Well 3 weeks down and we still have 3 undefeated teams and 2 winless teams. Will anything change this week? Let's get to it

Hoosier Daddy (3-0) vs
Bay Area Tanners (1-2)

All Time Record
Series is tied 3-3

Key Players

Hoosier Daddy: Ben Roethlisberger (Chiefs) Sammy Watkins* (Patriots) Michael Crabtree (Ravens) Ezekiel Elliott (49ers) Devonta Freeman (Panthers) Mark Ingram (Chargers)

Bay Area Tanners: DeAndre Hopkins (Titans) Mike Evans (Broncos) LeSean McCoy (Patriots)

Wild Cards

Hoosier Daddy: Is Watkins Playing? Tough Matchup for Devonta Freeman

Bay Area Tanners: Dalton at QB. Michael Floyd Concussion. Running back clusterfuck of Dwayne Washington/Spencer Ware/Jerrick McKinnon. Tough Matchup for LeSean McCoy, Mike Evans

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Ryan wins 109-105
I Say: Ryan wins. I've been terrible in the League Pick Em...with the exception of one team...ME. I'm a perfect 3-0 so far in picking my impending doom and I have no doubt I'll be right again as my team is such a clusterfuck mess. Two Thursday Night Plays, Terrible Matchups for my best players (yet AGAIN) with McCoy and Mike Evans, and I literally don't know which running backs to use out of Washington/Ware/McKinnon as they are total crapshoots is just a recipe for disaster. I have a feeling I'll underperform. Ryan's not going to luck this week to beat me, he'll just do it and stay undefeated.

Channel 4 News Team (2-1) vs
BigBadBob (0-2)

All Time Record
Series is tied 4-4

Key Players

Channel 4 News Team: Andrew Luck (Jaguars) A.J. Green (Dolphins) T.Y. Hilton (Jaguars) Doug Baldwin (Jets) LaGarrette Blount (Bills)

BigBadBob: Cam Newton (Falcons) Emmanuel Sanders (Bucs) Greg Olsen (Falcons) Brandon Marshall (Seahawks)

Wild Cards

Channel 4 News Team: Albert's TE situation. RB2 with Doug Martin out.

BigBadBob: Tough Matchup for Brandon Marshall. Overall Roster outside of Cam/Olsen.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Dad wins 106-98
I Say: Albert wins. I dunno what Albert's waiting for as far his tight end situation, but the only reason he's projected to lose is because Gates is a zero.  I just can't trust Dad's roster right now because it's full of injuries.

Bigger Balls (3-0) vs
Woe Is You (1-2)

All Time Record
Mike Leads Series 2-1 (Last Played Week 12, 2013 Season)

Key Players

Bigger Balls: Matt Ryan (Panthers) Antonio Brown (Chiefs) Amari Cooper (Ravens) DeSean Jackson (Browns) Lamar Miller (Titans) Matt Forte (Seahawks)

Woe Is You: Odell Beckham Jr (Vikings) Stefon Diggs (Giants) Eric Decker (Seahawks) C.J. Anderson (Bucs) Jordan Reed (Browns)

Wild Cards

Bigger Balls: Tough matchups for Matt Ryan and Matt Forte

Woe Is You: Tough matchups for Odell Beckham, Eric Decker and Charles Sims. Terrell Pryor Usage

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Mike wins 116-106
I Say: Mayra wins. I think this will be a close one, and some of the projected points on both sides seem a little high. I'll give Mayra the slight edge here to stay undefeated with slightly better matchups.

SCLSU MudDogs (1-2) vs
Light's Broken Bots (0-3)

All Time Record
Alex Leads Series 2-0

Key Players

SCLSU MudDogs: Drew Brees (Chargers) Julian Edelman (Bills) Larry Fitzgerald (Rams) Carlos Hyde (Cowboys) LeVeon Bell (Chiefs)

Light's Broken Bots: Russell Wilson* (Jets) Kelvin Benjamin (Falcons) Rob Gronkowski (Bills) Jamaal Charles*(Steelers)

Wild Cards

SCLSU MudDogs: The return of Le'veon Bell. Delanie Walker going to play?

Light's Broken Bots: Russell Wilson's health. Jamaal Charles Health. Gronk's usage this week.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Alex wins 114-103
I Say: Alex wins. Both teams blew great opportunities to get a win last week, though Alex's was more egregious as he controlled his loss by not playing a tight end. Matt's still got too many question marks on his team for me to pick him against Alex. Russell Wilson is banged up, Jamaal Charles might not play once again and even if he does...how much will he really play in his first game back? Who knows what's going on with Gronk...it unfortunately looks like an 0-4 start for Matt, but no worries Matt...win #1 is on the way...because the first team you get to play with your team fully intact will be....ME!

No Soup For You (2-1) vs
THE SPOILER (1-2)

All Time Record
Leland Leads Series 4-3 (Last Beat Drew in 1st Round of 2015 Wane McGarity Bowl)

Predictions
Leland winning. Not even going to beat around the bush and mess with Key Players bs, Drew is a 34 point underdog. He wasn't winning with a fully healthy roster, he wasn't winning with the current roster he has, and he's certainly not winning with Eddie Lacy on bye too. My 100% guarantee  has been a kiss of death before...but common sense tells you that a  roster where Paul Perkins and Terrance West are in the lineup against a powerhouse like Leland won't end well at all. It's a good thing Drew got win #1 last week.

Rocket Man (3-0) vs
Shock The Monkey (1-2)

All Time Record
Mark Leads Series 2-1

Key Players

Rocket Man: Julio Jones (Panthers) Jeremy Maclin (Steelers) Melvin Gordon (Saints)

Shock The Monkey: Carson Palmer (Rams) Alshon Jeffrey (Lions) Jarvis Landry (Bengals) Latavius Murray (Ravens) Demarco Murray (Ravens) Dez Bryant*(49ers)

Wild Cards

Rocket Man: QB Situation. Tough Matchup for Julio Jones. Jordan Matthews on bye.

Shock The Monkey: Dez's health. Palmer bounce back?

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Eugene wins 110-101
I Say: Eugene wins. Uh oh Eugene's not going to be happy I picked him to win! The QB situation is scary, because even if Garoppolo plays, I'm not sure how pass happy they'll be. For Mark, Dez could be nothing but a glorified decoy with his injury. Again...Mark's team is super hard to define, I'll just go with the consistent undefeated team this week.

Week 3 Results: The Bad Beat

San Diego Chargers v Indianapolis Colts : News Photo
There is literally nothing worse in Fantasy Football than a "bad beat". Those unbelievable bullshit loses that rip your heart out and leave you so deflated, that it makes you just wanna quit and never play this sadistic game again. A bad beat can be losing to a team that you really shouldn't lose to...playing against the most unlikely player and watching him go off. Lose by less than a 5 points or even less the one point (hellooooooo last year's 3rd place game) or lose to a miraculous play that just shouldn't happen but because of circumstances beyond your control does happen. That was my "bad beat" this week and it's also why I never AND I MEAN NEVER start talking shit or boasting about a win until the final clock shows 0:00 for every single game that me and my opponent have. I was surprisingly up 18 points going into the final Colts drive and allllllllllll I needed was the Chargers D to not allow Andrew Luck to throw a deep TD to T.Y. Hilton and I'd win the game and go on to a 2-1 season. Hilton caught a short 9 yard pass before setting up a...you guessed it...61 yard TD (on a fucking SLANT..nonetheless which he took to the house because the Chargers D just really couldn't help themselves by being fucking pathetic) which turned an 18 point lead into a 5 point deficit. Just like that, 2-1 was snatched away from me and I'm now 1-2 with my season on life support already (Ok not really, but when you lose like THAT...that's how it feels). The punch in the balls feeling is not a fun one and what made it even crueler...was fake hope. Because the universe loves fucking with me, the Tampa Bay-Rams game was postponed due to inclement weather which meant that I still had a small semblance of a chance to win (yeah right...like this shit EVER goes my way). The Rams were up 5, but it was 3rd and 11 near their goal with 2 minutes left so the Bucs would have to go into pass mode when they got the ball back to score a TD to win the game. It wasn't outside the realm of possibility that Evans, who already had 10 catches for 130 yards, could catch a couple and possibly a TD. But of course, that wasn't in the cards, the Bucs drove but not one pass was to Evans, and though they got all the way to the 15, the Bucs ran out of time and lost the game...and so did I. So I have now lost 6 out of my 7 matchups going back to last season  and if you go back EVEN FURTHER I'm a pathetic 3-8 over my last 11 matchups after starting last season 7-0. Proof that I suck at this shit and it's not going to get any better. I can handle the losing, but this loss...it's going to sting for a long while. I hope Ryan just beats the shit outta me next week (which will happen, no doubt) so I can get over this loss.

Wow...even though the scores don't really reflect it as the scores are actually decent...this was UGLY. There were two donuts and a NEGATIVE .50 scored in this game. The team that had the -.50 WON. Unbelievable and a really bad loss for Matt who was facing quite possibly the team with the worst roster in the league. How Kelvin Benjamin got blanked is insane, at least Gronk had an excuse with a snap count and coming back from injury. Also what hurt Matt was Russell Wilson getting hurt in a blowout game. He was having a solid game before the injury, but as a precaution and because they didn't need him he got benched for the rest of that game. The only bright spots were Jordy Nelson (101 yards and 2 TD's) and Jeremy Hill (97 rushing yards and 2 TD's). For Drew...it's a win...but the news just gets worse. He's already thin and decimated all around and now if Ryan Mathews is hurt, it's another blow. His ragtag team though got it done, though it took Matt's guys getting two donuts and a benched Russell Wilson to barely win against a winless team. Ryan Tannehill was a good spot start with over 300 yards passing and 3 Passing TD's and like everyone knew would happen Allen Robinson woke up and had the best game of his season with 57 yards and 2 TD's. Eddie Lacy actually had 100 yards rushing and Shane Vereen scored a TD (though he fumbled again, and starting losing work to Orleans Darkwa). Coby Fleener was a pleasant surprise with 109 yards and a score. You take any win you can get so Drew lived up to his team name and SPOILED Matt's chance at Win #1. Here comes the ultimate jinx....Drew plays Leland next week and with Mathews hurt and on bye anyways on top of Eddie Lacy on bye....there's no chance in hell Drew's winning. Leland could probably play half his team and still win easily. For Matt, week 4 becomes must win against Alex. Matt won't have Jordy Nelson's services as he's on bye and he needs to hope Gronk will be ready to roll after a 10 day layoff and also if Jamaal Charles is FINALLY coming back. Should be interesting to say the least.

Hey Eugene, if you slip me some of the prize money at the end of the season, I'll keep picking you to lose alllllll season long buddy! Eugene is quietly taking care of business as he easily dispatches Mike's team this week to stay undefeated. Eugene's gotta be pleased with seeing Aaron Rodgers FINALLY be....AARON RODGERS. You don't keep a guy in the 2nd round to watch him score the same amount of points of the likes of Carson Palmer, Eli Manning etc...this week Rodgers was great..though he did all his damage in the 1st half with 4 TD's...the lead was so big he didn't have to do much else but still an encouraging sign. It also looks like the Melvin Gordon gamble has paid off in spades...thanks to Gordon's improvement and Danny Woodhead's season ending injury, Gordon so far has looked like a legit RB1 this season. He's involved in the passing game as well and had 78 total yards and another TD. Jordan Matthews didn't do much, under 20 yards, but did score a TD and Travis Kelce finally showed up with 6 catches for 89 yards and a score. The RB2 situation is still a problem, but hey, Eugene's won 3 in a row despite it, so no reason to think it's a major problem. Also Julio was quiet yet again with only 16 yards, but you know he'll bounce back and again Eugene is winning despite that so it doesn't seem to be a big deal. For Mike, a very disappointing effort this week as his team didn't even score 80 points. Derek Carr was mediocre, while Stefon Diggs, Eric Decker, and CJ Anderson were held to 14.2 points COMBINED. You won't win with your studs doing that and I doubt they will all get held down like that again at the same time At least Mike has a Jonathan Stewart replacement for the next couple weeks as Charles Sims led the way with 124 total yards and a score. We still haven't seen why Jordan Reed was considering the best tight end to own besides Gronk. Another uneventful 56 yard performance. Still, not worried about Mike's team, it was just a bad overall week, he'll bounce back. He's got another tough task next week as he takes on Mayra, while Eugene will try to stay undefeated when he faces Mark (Eugene will be without the services of Aaron Rodgers) next week...do I smell....me picking against Eugene again???

Shock The Monkey (1-2)       103.98

This team is just insane. Despite getting a combined 6.7 points from Randall Cobb and Brandin Cooks..Leland STILL puts up a season high 142.50 points and though Mark didn't play bad, he just never stood a chance in this offensive barrage. Half of Leland's squad had AT LEAST 20 POINTS A PIECE (Todd Gurley woke up with 85 and 2 scores, David Johnson has been AMAZING so far and he had over 100 yards and 2 scores, Matthew Stafford had nearly 400 yards and 3 TD's and who needs Megatron when Marvin Jones has stepped up into that role FLAWLESSLY with a 205 yard 2 TD, 35.5 point performance). Sterling Shepard also continues to look legit with 73 yards and a score and the receiver depth on this team is literally just unfair (Leland didn't play Demaryius Thomas who had 100 and a score or Michael Thomas who had 71 and a score). This is Mayra circa 2014 level of domination and I don't know what any of us can really do. For Mark, Carson Palmer just absolutely KILLED him with 4 picks and 0 TD's against a weak Bills Defense. Dez scored, but injured his knee and him and Alshon continue to be erratic (Jeffrey only had 70 yards on 5 catches and 0 TD's) yet you keep expecting the talent to rise up. Hopefully for Mark, Dez's injury isn't too serious. Jarvis Landry had a hell of a game with 7 catches for 120 yards and a TD. Latavius Murray keeps getting saved by TD's, but he's in a full blown committee and he's entirely TD dependent. It's worked so far but take away his TD's and the low yardage games would be killing Mark. The one surprise though has been DeMarco Murray. Thought the be done and one mistake away from having Derrick Henry take over, Murray has been a BEAST through the first three weeks of the season. He had 155 total yards and a rushing TD this week, and as long as he stays healthy, he should have a great season. Jamison Crowder was also a great flex play with 78 and a score and has become more and more involved in the Redskins offense as the weeks go by. Leland has a bye next week when he takes on Drew and his super depleted team. I'm going to put my official jinx of all jinx and proclaim that there is nooooooooo way in hell Drew beats or even comes close to beating Leland next week. Mark's got another tough matchup..a date with Eugene's undefeated team (though no Aaron Rodgers who's on bye).

Ever hear the old adage "this team didn't win the game...the other team lost it"? This is exactly what happened here. The only reason Ryan is undefeated is because Alex made the most critical mistake you can have in fantasy football. He didn't check the inactives and see that Delanie Walker wasn't playing, so he kept him in the lineup took a zero and saw Jimmy Graham score 17 points on his bench. This isn't sour grapes, this isn't being mean, it's just fact...Alex checks his team, puts in Jimmy Graham (who he would've used, because Alex has always had an affinity for Jimmy Graham because he's an ex-Saint) and Alex and Ryan are both 2-1. Part of having a successful season is getting the breaks and so far, Ryan has gotten a ton of them. Once again, Ryan's the lowest scoring winner and once again he played a team who scored at the bottom of the the league in points scored (3rd worst this week). Every year it happens though, someone plays an inactive (the funny and predictable thing is that it actually happened in my matchup, Albert left an inactive Gates in his lineup, but of course, he's playing me, so he still wins regardless) and they lose and it ends up being critical because in a competitive league like this every win counts. Last year, Albert lost on an inactive play and at the end of the season, it cost him a playoff spot. Just shows how important it is to be alert and make sure all your guys are playing. It basically came down to Drew Brees vs Mark Ingram and Ryan lucked out that Brees' final TD went to Ingram which cancelled out each other basically. At least Ingram looked damn good for Ryan with over 100 total yards and a TD. Ryan's got some RB depth and it's going to be hard to chose who to go with between Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. Both have looked great in that Atlanta timeshare, but with Ingram and Zeke already at the RB position, Ryan can only play one and it's basically going to be a coin flip game to game. Zeke FINALLY had one of those games where you see why he was the 2nd overall player taken in the fantasy draft (although it WAS against the shitty Bears...still good players take advantage of great matchups and that's what Zeke did) as he had 140 rushing yards. The frustrating thing is the Cowboys had three rushing TD's and none of them were Zeke (Dak, Alf, and LANCE DUNBAR  of all people...WHY IS DUNBAR, A PASSING BACK, GETTING GOAL LINE WORK?!?!). Hopefully that doesn't become a common occurrence. Big Ben and Deangelo Williams were awful but at least Ryan's wide receiver trio all had at least 10 points apiece. For Alex...inexcusable loss and hopefully for his sake it doesn't come to bite him at the end of the season. Drew Brees was magnificent with nearly 400 yards and 3 scores. Tyler Lockett got a zero too, so even with two zero's Alex had a solid shot at beating Ryan. The only other one worth talking about is Carlos Hyde who took advantage of garbage time to score 2 TD's and go over 100 yards rushing. The good news for Alex is that he'll finally get to unleash Le'Veon Bell next week as he's off suspension. Alex has a tough matchup against Matt next week, while Ryan will try to ride his lucky streak against me next week (ha, he couldn't ask for a better matchup).

BigBadBob (0-3)             92.68

This was wayyyyy closer than anticipated and literally came down to the last few minutes of last nights game. Unfortunately for Dad, he lost Mohammad Sanu to injury during the game and Willie Snead before the game (which resulted in a desperation Brandon Coleman play that actually worked as Coleman had 7 catches for 78 yards). I really believe if Sanu doesn't get hurt, Dad pulls off the upset. Also, a critical roster mistake cost Dad the game. When Dad kept seeing the Brandon Marshall was playing but limited he told himself he wasn't going to use him, thinking he wouldn't play well hurt and he had Darren Sproles in his lineup allll the way until around 3 o'clock when he got nervous and switched it back. Big mistake that cost him a win. Sproles went off for 21.70 points while Brandon Marshall was held to 3 catches for 27 yards. That's the kind of season Dad is having. He also lost Jeremy Langford in game to injury, Greg Olsen and Cam were bad and Emmanuel Sanders of all people kept Dad afloat with a 117 yard 2 TD performance. Frank Gore added 82 and a score as well. Dad is so decimated with injuries (Langford, Senad, Sanu, Rawls, Jennings, and a banged up Brandon Marshall) that I can't believe he was less than two points away from winning. I don't know what Dad's going to do going forward, as him and Drew are trying to see who can have the worst luck injury wise. For Mayra, it got scary, but she pulls off win #3 thanks to Matt Ryan coming though with 240 yards and 2 TD's. DeSean Jackson had 96 and a score and Antonio Brown was Antonio Brown with 140 yards. That's all worth talking about, but it was enough to stay undefeated. Dad will take on Albert next week, while Mayra will face a tough test against Mike Posey next week.

Thursday Night Overview/Week 2 Awards

Houston Texans v New England Patriots : News Photo
I LOATHE THURSDAY NIGHT GAMES. Ever since the dipshit NFL decided to make this a once a week thing, it has literally NEVER worked out for me. I'm not even lying when I say out of everyone in the league, no one has been fucked over on Thursday Nights more than me. Injuries, underperformances, and other guys blowing up against me are a given every fucking week. So far the best case scenario was Week 1 when Dad's guys barely missed their projected points by less than a point. This Thursday...didn't shock me. Once again, just like last week I find myself in a hole that I once again won't come out of because I've already used my best player and he sucked (last week it was McCoy) and for the 2nd straight week an RB2 has destroyed me and doubled his projected points (last week Forte TRIPLED it). The Texans suck so much hairy dick it's not even funny. What a farce of a 2-0 team. They ALWAYS let you down when you finally think they're legit and this week was no different. These dumbfucks KNOW the Pats are gonna run the ball with Blount and they don't care..they let him run wild with 102 and 2 scores (2nd score was unbelievably pathetic and stupid, just like this fucking franchise). Brock Osweiler is an asshole and has no idea how the FUCK to play the QB position and the playcalling?? Jesus Christ..it makes the Cowboys playcalling seem legit. So once again, it's Thursday night and my week is over and now just like week I started looking at my matchup with Albert, now I have to focus on Ryan for week 4 with 1-2 fucking record. Frustration doesn't even begin to describe this season. I love when Yahoo projects other teams to have shitty seasons they're wrong but with me? Nope...it's really looking like a 4-9 season. Naturally LaGarrette Blount is the ONLY guy on either team who did anything worth a shit and it was against me. Gronk, nothing..a mere decoy..and that's not a good start for Matt (but he plays Drew, so there's still a solid chance Matt wins). Julian Edelman, nothing special either. Lamar Miller looked like dogshit but because the Texans feed him 200 carries a game he still had over 100 yards and Mayra's still on track to beat Dad. Oh, Albert didn't get much from Will Fuller but who gives a fuck...Fuller was a flex and still only scored 3 points less than my #1 player in DeAndre Hopkins. I don't know why I put myself through this...I really don't. Here's Week 2 awards

Baltimore Ravens v Cleveland Browns : News Photo
I'm gonna at least give me SOME credit. Even though I lost, I decided to replace Martellus Bennett (lol, who had over 100 and a score) with Dennis Pitta and it worked out pretty well. I might have saved a nightmare tight end situation with this pickup.

No Jay Cutler Bad Decision Award this week.

Week 3 Matchup and Predictions

Man, it's only Week 3 and teams are getting ravaged by some bad multi-week injuries. Whether it's Drew losing 3 key guys in Peterson, Dante Moncrief, and Ameer Abdullah, or Mark losing Danny Woodhead or Mike losing Jonathan Stewart after losing Keenan Allen or Albert losing  Doug Martin etc etc...it's just insane how quickly things can turn upside down. Here's hoping for an injury free week 3! On to the predictions!

Channel 4 News Team: Andrew Luck (Chargers) A.J. Green (Broncos) T.Y. Hilton (Chargers) Doug Baldwin (49ers)

Wild Cards

Bay Area Tanners: Step up from Michael Floyd. Spencer Ware's role. Tough matchup for LeSean McCoy. DeVante Parker ready to roll?

Channel 4 News Team: Tough Matchup for A.J. Green. Justin Forsett as the RB2. Can Will Fuller do it yet again?

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Albert wins 107-98
I Say: Albert wins. Love that Albert is still a 9 point favorite with Doug Martin not playing. I don't think I'll get blown out, but I can see myself losing a close one. For some reason the Hopkins play against the Pats makes me nervous (probably because historically speaking, Thursday Night Football has fucked me over sooooo many times throughout the league's history I just expect and usually get the worst). I just think somehow Albert bounces back from a sub 70 point game to beat me.

Wild Cards

Bigger Balls: DeSean Jackson's Health.

BigBadBob: Brandon Marshall's health. Team production outside of Cam/Olsen/Marshall.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Mayra wins 110-100
I Say: Mayra wins. Eh, Dad's roster is not looking too sharp so far as outside of his big 3, it's been nothing but disappointment. Things don't look to get any easier playing the #1 team in the league right now. Not too many questions on Mayra's side of things. I say Mayra wins easily.

Hoosier Daddy (2-0) vs

Alex Leads Series 4-0

Key Players

Hoosier Daddy: Ben Roethlisberger (Eagles) Ezekiel Elliott (Bears) DeAngelo Williams (Eagles) Mark Ingram (Falcons) Sammy Watkins (Cardinals)

SCLSU MudDogs: Drew Brees (Falcons) Julian Edelman (Texans) Larry Fitzgerald (Bills) Carlos Hyde (Seahawks) Delanie Walker (Raiders) Travis Benjamin (Colts)

Wild Cards

Hoosier Daddy: Wide Receiver production as a whole. Will Zeke finally look like a star? TE Production. Mark Ingram's slow start

SCLSU MudDogs: Edleman playing with 3rd string QB. Carlos Hyde tough matchup. Theo Riddick full starting role?

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Ryan wins 111-100
I Say: Alex wins. I seriously don't get the 11 point difference on this matchup. I understand why Ryan is the favorite, just not how big a favorite he is. Ryan has never beaten Alex and though once again this matchup will favor Ryan (Alex not having Le'Veon Bell for the 3rd and final time), I'm gonna go against the grain here and say Alex pulls of the upset. Alex's team has looked better on the field on paper. I think the wild card could be  Theo Riddick. With Ameer Abdullah out, Riddick seems to be the running back that can benefit most from this. Until Mark Ingram proves he can play, I'm not buying his nearly 16 point projection. Gotta see it happen first. Also not in love with Sammy Watkins matchup against Arizona and that can easily be another 3 point performance like it was against the Jets. Alex has concerns too, but I'll go with the team that's been putting up the more consistent points this week.

Matt leads this series 5-3-1

Key Players

Light's Broken Bots: Russell Wilson (49ers) Jordy Nelson (Lions) Kelvin Benjamin (Vikings) Jamaal Charles*(Jets) Rob Gronkowski*(Texans)

THE SPOILER: Allen Robinson (Ravens) Eddie Lacy (Lions) Ryan Mathews (Steelers)

Wild Cards

Light's Broken Bots: Will Charles and Gronk Play? Russell Wilson 100%?

THE SPOILER: New QB in Tannehill. Will Allen Robinson and Eddie Lacy step up finally? Very questionable overall supporting cast.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Matt wins 103-91
I Say: Matt wins. Usually when these two play, it results in some close finishes. This could be the win Matt needs to jump start his season. If Charles and Gronk are active, it could signal the beginning of Matt's team coming together. He couldn't have asked for a better opponent as Drew's team is just completely  mauled with injuries and underperformances. Again, the double digit difference is a bit much (even if Charles and Gronk are healthy, their situations aren't exactly ideal this week), but Matt should have enough to take care of Drew's floundering squad. There will be no Spoiler this week unfortunately.

Shock The Monkey: Carson Palmer (Bills) Dez Bryant (Bears) Alshon Jeffrey (Cowboys) Jarvis Landry (Browns) Latavius Murray (Titans) Demarco Murray (Raiders)

Wild Cards

No Soup For You: WR Carousel. Can Todd Gurley break out of slump?

Shock The Monkey: Jeffrey/Brian Hoyer connection. Jamison Crowder in flex

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Leland wins 109-102
I Say: Leland wins. It's a rematch of the 2015 Wane McGarity Bowl. Mark definitely has enough talent on his team to beat Leland (would've been even greater had Danny Woodhead not gotten hurt) but still at the end of the day, Leland has more talent. Even last week when he lost, it was only by 4. Mark's guys really got to be on their A game to win this week and they definitely can, but then again you never know as this is as jekyll and hide a team there is in the league.  I'm just expecting a bounce back game from Leland this week.

Rocket Man (2-0) vs
Woe Is You (1-1)

All Time Record
Mike Leads Series 1-0 (Last Played Week 10 of the 2013 Season)

Key Players

Woe Is You: Derek Carr (Titans) Odell Beckham Jr. (Redskins) Stefon Diggs (Panthers) Eric Decker (Chiefs) CJ Anderson (Bengals) Jordan Reed (Giants)

Wild Cards

Rocket Man: Will Aaron Rodgers FINALLY have an elite game? Tough Matchup for Maclin. Duke Johnson Production.

Woe Is You: Will Beckham JR finally show why he was picked #3 overall? Sims production with Doug Martin out. Phillip Dorsett production with Moncrief out.

Predictions
Yahoo Says: Mike wins 111-109
I Say: Mike wins. So these two have only met once and it was back in 2013. Eugene's going to have a tough task keeping that undefeated record going against Mike. I slightly favor Mike's players a little bit more and think he'll come up with a narrow victory.

Smooth Sailing or Panic Time?

I know it's only been 2 weeks into the season, but I thought this would be a fun early season exercise seeing we have 3 teams that are undefeated and 3 teams that are winless. Last season we all know the drill, two teams started 3-0 (me and Dad) and two teams started 0-3 (Leland and Mark). At the end..me and Dad didn't even place while Leland and Mark met in the finals, so an early season start, bad or good, is not indicative on what's going to happen at the end of the year. Here's my take on how the season has started for these 6 teams and if it's sustainable for the entire season.

The Undefeated

Mayra (Bigger Balls)
In A Nutshell: Mayra's team has impressed so far, starting in Week 1 scoring the most points in the league and then in Week 2 having a mediocre performance overall but still winning easily by double digits. She also heads into Week 3 with a highly favorable matchup against my Dad's struggling team, so there's a very good shot she ends up 3-0.

Is it legit? I believe so. With how things have shaken up, I think Mayra's team is not just a hands down playoff contender, but a serious title contender. I'd put Mayra's team just behind Leland's in overall talent and I definitely think barring injuries, it's sustainable. It's not a stretch to see this team in the Finals, and though I'm not proclaiming a repeat of 2014's domination going undefeated, I do think from what I've seen this team is going to be a force to reckon with.

Eugene (Rocket Man)
In a Nutshell: So it's hard to really go on a couple wins early, especially when the first one was against a very depleted team in Matt's (no Gronk, no Charles, no Josh Gordon), but the 2nd win definitely raises some eyebrows. Playing against the most talented team in the league, Eugene was able to squeak out an impressive win and withstand Leland's monster team and did it with another average Aaron Rodgers performance who just has been out of sync again. His week 3 matchup is tough as he takes on Mike Posey, who might have a beast in the making in Stefon Diggs to replace the injured Keenan Allen.

Is It Legit? It can be. I still wouldn't put this team in the tier with Mayra and Leland. It'll definitely contend for a playoff spot, even for a bye, but a couple things concern me. Aaron Rodgers needs to be AARON RODGERS to win. It showed last year that as good as Eugene's 3rd place was, having an average Aaron Rodgers at the helm limited his upside to winning it all. Every week, even last year, I kept thinking to myself, this is the week we see the real Aaron Rodgers, and it just doesn't happen. Julio Jones's ankle concerns me as well as in both games so far he has somewhat tweaked it. Eugene cannot lose Julio for any kind of time. The running back situation also stills scares me. It's great Melvin Gordon is starting off so hot, hopefully it's sustainable, especially with Woodhead's injury, but Duke Johnson is just not a great RB2. I feel there's a lot more questions here than Mayra's situation, but not enough to think this some kind of fluke.

Ryan (Hoosier Daddy)
In A Nutshell: Ryan has the "best draft" award according to Yahoo and so far if you look at his record, you would think Yahoo has gotten it  right. If you look deeper though, Ryan's 2-0 record is the luckiest 2-0 record of the 3 Undefeated teams. He played the team who scored the 2nd lowest points in the week last week and this week played Drew, who scored the lowest points in the week this week. He's also been the lowest scoring winner both weeks. A win's a win, but you gotta think that comes back to work against him soon. He's definitely got a winnable matchup against Alex next week, so he could be 3-0 easily.

Is it legit? Sorry man, I'm not buying this start. And honestly neither is Ryan. He said himself, after Week 3 he thinks his luck ends. His best player by a longshot has been Deangelo Williams so far. Well, after week 3, Deangelo becomes a non factor and that's going to be a huge blow to Ryan's roster. Big Ben is great, but a combination of a pretty bad Wide Receiver trio, and very disappointing running backs (Freeman is in a timeshare with Tevin Coleman, Mark Ingram just sucks period, and Zeke Elliott hasn't looked like the once a generational running back everyone was banking on). Plus Ryan doesn't have a real tight end. If this group gets it together, it can still compete for a playoff spot and a fast start helps greatly, if it doesn't though, I can still see Ryan missing the playoffs entirely.

The Winless

Matt (Light's Broken Bots)
In a Nutshell: Unfortunately, this is kind of going as planned as Matt drafted a team with high injury risk and suspensions. So far after 2 games, Matt hasn't had his top two draft picks play a snap (and with Gronk on a short week, there's a good chance he doesn't play Week 3 either, while Charles MIGHT be back, it'll be against the tough Jets D), he's got a top flight receiver in the middle of a 4 game suspension, a highly drafted QB in Russell Wilson who's been a bust so far, and a top flight QB in the middle of a 4 game suspension himself. He's lost both games, but his early schedule has been ok enough that he's actually been competitive and came really close to beating Mark this past week. He has another winnable match against fellow winless leaguemate Drew.

Panic Time? Matt should be a little panicked, only because by the time his team gets it all together, it might be a little too late. Matt won't have a completely full squad until Week 5 at the earliest. His schedule for the first 6 weeks gives him plenty of winnable games (playing against Drew, Me, Alex, Dad are his next 4). To me, he needs to get 2 of those in those before the harder teams start rolling in. Again, what gives me the most hope that Matt can survive this out of three teams is again A)his early schedule and B)when the schedule gets harder, he should have his team at 100% full strength. Kelvin Benjamin has been a pleasant surprise and you combine him with Jordy Nelson, Josh Gordon, Gronk, Jamaal Charles, and whatever QB Matt goes with Brady or Wilson, that's not going to be a team you'd want to face.

Drew (Belfast Bruiser)
In a Nutshell: Things are crumbling for Drew at a rapid pace. I really thought Drew had a nice team going into the season, but his has by far been the most disappointing. Two straight weeks of being the lowest scoring team in the league, and in both weeks Drew hasn't even gotten to 75 points. Thanks to disappointing players in Allen Robinson, Eddie Lacy, Adrian Peterson (who's hurt now), and Coby Fleener, and an above average QB in Kirk Cousins, Drew just hasn't been competitive at all. As we speak, he might also be out Donte Moncrief who was hurt in week 2. He plays fellow winless Matt in a must win.

Panic Time? Yes, definitely. Drew's highest upside guy (Tajae Sharpe) plays in a low passing offense. Sharpe's the kind of guy you can afford to have as a flex when you have talent around him, but as a main cog of your team, it won't work. Unfortunately Allen Robinson has been a dud in the two games he's played so far and it's not like Blake Bortles ISN'T throwing it 1000 times a game. He's the one who needs to step up the most, because I still think he can. Jury's still out on Donte Moncrief, who had a nice game 1, but not a great week 2 before getting hurt. The running back situation is the bustiest of all busts. Even before Peterson got hurt, he was terrible. It might officially be "that time" for Peterson as age catches up for everyone eventually. Now that Drew will be out his services for a few weeks, it makes it that much worse because so far Fat Fuck Eddie Lacy is playing exactly like he did last year. By the time Lacy gets going, it'll be too little too late just like what happened when he was on Alex's team last year. Even his backup running backs are getting hurt. Ameer Abdullah might not be available due to a foot injury and Ryan Mathews is ALWAYS an injury risk ready to happen.  Can Drew turn it around? Sure he can, but losing Peterson is rough and I don't know if even a return to form from Allen Robinson is going to be enough to keep this from being a bad season for Drew.

Dad (BigBadBob)
In a Nutshell: Dad's been competitive in his losses, but it's not great to start 0-2 and go into week 3 playing Mayra. Unfortunately Dad has a lot of guys on his roster that offer little upside. This team is built on Cam, Brandon Marshall, and Greg Olsen, but look even when Cam has gone off (20+ points both games) he still can't win because his supporting cast has been so bad. Golden Tate is looking like a mega bust, so is Thomas Rawls, Emmanuel Sanders is what he is, a WR3 thanks to the QB situation and Jeremy Langford looks awful and if not for a couple of cheap TD's he'd be just as much as a bust as Rawls, he's on thin ice in Chicago and might lose his starting job before it's all said and done. Brandon Marshall has been OK, but dad wants more from his 1st round pick and now he's dealing with a knee issue that might hamper him. Willie Snead at least has been a nice surprise. As said earlier, the prospects of Dad going 0-3 are real as he takes on Mayra next week.

Panic Time? Oh yeah..for sure. It can't be the Cam/Olsen/Marshall show ALL TIME TIME. What happens when Cam goes quiet? Dad's going to have to go the old boring route now with Frank Gore over Thomas Rawls and though I think Tate won't be THIS bad...his ceiling is still high end WR3 to me, just like Sanders. Dad's trade assets aren't even great but nobody really trades for QB's and TE's and those are Dad's best players. Brandon Marshall might be his best trade chip, but I don't know how much his value is with a nagging knee injury. It's way too early, but how things are shaping up, it's not lookin too good for Dad.

Week 2 Results: The Return Of The Bloodbath

Green Bay Packers v Minnesota Vikings : News Photo
Sunday, Bloody Sunday reared its ugly head again as teams left and right were hit with injuries all day and night Sunday. Danny Woodhead, Jonathan Stewart, Thomas Rawls, Donte Moncrief, Doug Martin, and the biggest name of them all Adrian Peterson all suffered injuries that pulled them out of their matchups early and dented teams chances of winning week 2. Also people were losing depth guys like Arian Foster and Ameer Abdullah who both got hurt as well. Then there's QB's that got hurt that if serious could affect the other skill players that teams own. Josh McCown and Andy Dalton were both injured and if there's any chance it's serious, you can downgrade all the skill positions for both of those squads. Just brutal. If you survived week 2 unscathed, bravo to you. The rest of us are licking are wounds. Here's the Week 2 Results

Bigger Balls (2-0)            108.64
Bay Area Tanners (1-1)     97.12

First thing first, since it's my league, I'm the only one who publicly puts out their thoughts on a weekly basis, good or bad, better or worse. Am I pessimist by nature, yeah I'll admit it, but I don't pick against myself to do a "reverse jinx" or because I'm "overreacting", my picks are based on research and probability. I look at the players/matchups I have, I look at the players/matchups my opponent has, and based on that pick a winner. I don't like the misconception that I pick against myself for any other reason other than that and that I'm not having "fun". It sure isn't fun to lose, but it doesn't mean I don't have a good time. The irony of being called out to just have fun and calm down is funny because if I had a dollar for everytime I got texts from others in the league saying "I'm done" or "that's it" after a few plays from the first afternoon games of the day or overreacting to things in the league in general, whether it be trades, injuries, rules etc, I'd never have to look for another job again. We're all human and it's human nature to react like that when something isn't going your way. Yet, mine get scrutinized because I make mine available for all you to read. It goes with the territory, I know. More often that not, I bet if you go back (and trust me, I'm such a stickler for being right, I thought about it) and historically look at my picks on my picks on my team I bet I've got a pretty damn good record. I'm not 100%, I've been wrong before (on both winning and losing, and I always hope I'm wrong when I pick me to lose) but I just hate some of comments I get for picking against myself, like it's the worst thing in the world someone can do and for me to "lighten up". They're picks people..nothing more nothing less. Anyways end of rant, just felt like I had to defend myself a little and I apologize for being long winded. So yeah, the Matt Forte 30 point game was too much to overcome and even though Mayra didn't have a great week overall (none of her 3 receivers, Antonio Brown, DeSean Jackson, and Amari Cooper scored over 10 points, in fact Brown and Jackson didn't even score 6, Lamar Miller barely scored over 10), the combination my guys just sucking hardcore (surprisingly Eli Manning, who threw 0 TD'S AGAINST THE SAINTS SHITTY DEFENSE!!) and Matt Ryan saving the day with a 31 point performance got her the win. My running back situation is as shitty as you can get. Foster gets hurt, Rashad Jennings sucks, and Spencer Ware will be relegated to timeshare duty the second Jamaal Charles comes back. Combined that with a mediocre start to LeSean McCoy's season and yeah, you bet your ass I'm worried. The strength of my team is my receiving group and for the most part they came through. Hopkins was a beast, Evans had a nice game against a tough opponent, and though Michael Floyd had 2 catches for 8 yards, he did at least score a TD. Plus, my pet project, 13th round pick Devante Parker played his first game and he had over 100 yards on my bench so that's nice to have as I might flex him next week in a good matchup against the Browns. Also, I might have solved my Tight End problem, as Dennis Pitta looks to be healthy and he's getting a ton of looks from Joe Flacco. He had a nice game. So if everything goes to plan tonight, Mayra should once again be on top with the best scoring of the undefeated teams left and she'll have a very winnable matchup against my struggling Dad's 0-2 team next week. I'll take on Albert, who's looking to bounce back from a horrific sub 70 point performance. (Spoiler Alert: There's a chance at pick myself to lose)

Channel 4 News Team (1-1)        67.98

I'm tellin ya...Alex's team has this Eugene vibe going as I crapped all over his team during the draft results, yet after two weeks he's looking really impressive. He went toe to toe with Mayra, and scored the 2nd most points in the league, and now he easily decimated Albert in what should be the blowout of the week. I honestly thought Albert's win would be a lock, but I was dead wrong. I might have been wrong on Alex's team as a whole, but I told you Travis Benjamin would end up being a valuable piece on his team. Especially with Danny Woodhead now hurt, along with Keenan Allen, Benjamin's going to busy most week and he did not disappoint with 2 TD's and 115 receiving yards. It was one of those solid but not spectacular performances as a whole for Alex, as outside of Benjamin, noone had more than 20 points, but 5 of his other 7 players scored at least 11 points, with two of those (Larry Fitzgerald and Delanie Walker) scored 17. Drew Brees was disappointing considering the matchup and the running backs were awful (13.2 points combined) but Hyde had a difficult matchup against the Panthers and in one more week Le'Veon Bell will be back so that will be HUGE. For Albert, nightmare game. He lost Doug Martin early to a hamstring injury, and as of now, there's no telling how serious it is and if he'll miss any time. Andrew Luck couldn't do anything against Denver, A.J. Green was shut down by Pittsburgh, as were Hilton (tied to Luck) and Doug Baldwin. LaGarrette Blount was Albert's best player with 123 yards and a score, while at least the bright spot being the Will Fuller was great again with 104 yards. I definitely think this was a combination of bad matchups and injuries and Albert will bounce back. Losing Doug Martin might be a problem though. He'll take on me next week, while Alex has yet another tough matchup as he takes on yet another undefeated team in Ryan (Alex's opponents records so far after two weeks will be 5-1).

Rocket Man (2-0)           100.02
No Soup For You (1-1)     96.20

As predicted there's a Lawrence that's undefeated....it's just not the one everyone assumed. It only took till game 2, but Leland's dream team has already been stopped and it was against his brother nonetheless. I can't imagine the sting of this loss as losing to a sibling makes it hurt a little more. It was the closest matchup of the week as Eugene eeks out a win by less than 4 points. How Eugene was able to stop the machine with a mediocre Aaron Rodgers is just one of those things that you chalk up to football being unpredictable. Julio Jones was once again the key cog with over 100 and a TD and Melvin Gordon just might be relevant after all as he punched in another TD and went over 100 yards. He's also going to be slated for a ton of work as Danny Woodhead suffered a season ending ACL injury. The rest of Eugene's team really didn't do much as Jordan Matthews did his best to keep this close by dropping a crap load of passes but still got enough to get the W. For Leland just a disappointing week from his All Star Squad. Like I said in the draft results recap, it's going to be tough to chose which receivers to go with week to week because Leland has TOO much depth there. He has 5 legit starters and that's not even including a flex worthy 6th receiver in Michael Thomas. He sat Damaryius Thomas this week and though that worked by starting Sterling Shepard (8 for 117) and Marvin Jones (8 for 118), Thomas scored twice more than Randall Cobb (who looks just as bad as he did last year so far) and Brandin Cooks (barely put up over 10 points this week in a plus matchup against the Giants). Who knows who Leland decides to start next week, it'll be a challenge for sure. Also...this is the 2nd game Todd Gurley was mediocre it has to be a concern now. It's not that he's not good, it's his team's offense is SO BAD that defenses don't respect anyone on that team in the least and just focus on shutting Gurley down. At least David Johnson is living up to the hype as he did great with 143 total yards. Matthew Stafford had a decent game that could've been better with only one TD pass. And with alllllll those "bad plays" Leland still only lost under 4 points. That's why I wouldn't be too worried if I was Leland (and I know he's not). He's got enough talent to cover for Gurley and he can afford to gamble with him and keep plugging him due to that depth. Leland's sure to bounce back against Mark, who just lost a huge player in his offense in Danny Woodhead for the season. For Eugene, he'll try to keep the undefeated magic going against Mike next week.

THE SPOILER (0-2)         62.16

Well....this was as ugly as can be. Despite scoring the 2nd least amount of points in the league, Ryan still picks up the win because he played a team that's just in a complete tailspin in Drew. This could've been even WORSE, had Ryan Mathews not gotten two late 1 yard TD's. Ryan's record is really a smoke screen as he hasn't really faced any good teams yet and his best player so far has been a guy who he can only use for one more game. But hey, if I'm Ryan, I'm not giving a damn how I'm winning, or how I look winning, I just want the W's. Deangelo led the way with 132 total yards and a score. Roethlisberger also had 3 passing TD's and 259 passing yards. It's still concerning the Zeke Elliott is a volume rusher and hasn't looked great and once again a TD saved what would've been a mediocre rushing day. It's also concerning he fumbled twice and led the Alfred Morris getting more run. It's definitely a situation to keep an eye because once Deangelo is relegated to handcuff duty, Ryan's going to have to have Zeke be the guy he thought he'd be when he drafted him #2 overall. Michael Crabtree scored but only had 31 yards, and right now that's Ryan's best receiver. Mark Ingram is beyond awful so far and he's not even involved in the passing game as much as the Saints like using Tavaris Cadet. That and the nightmare Atlanta backfield and no tight end (Celek with a big goose egg) highlight the many problems Ryan faces the rest of the season. As for Drew....man what can you even say? Two straight weeks of scoring the least amount of points. Just a bunch of underachievers and injury. Allen Robinson and Eddie Lacy just haven't been able to get it done the first two weeks, and though I can't see this lasting for Allen Robinson, he'll bounce back, Lacy did this same crap last year and it's looking like more of the same. On top of that, Adrian Peterson, who's been horrible himself, got hurt and is now out indefinitely. That's a huge blow and a team that's already struggling to score points. Kirk Cousins is ok (20 points) but still I just don't like him as a week to week starter. Coby Fleener still sucks and basically the only guy that bothered to show up was Ryan Mathews but even he was bailed out with two 1 yard scores. He only had 32 rushing yards. I don't know what Drew's going to do, it sucks being that's only week 2 and feeling that the season is lost already. Unfortunately, with the events that have transpired it kind of looks that way. Ryan gets another winnable matchup where he's favored against Alex next week, while it's the battle of the winless when Drew takes on Matt next week.

Closer than I thought it would be. Mark escapes with a victory over 8 points against Matt's "Broken" team. It didn't come without consequences though as Mark lost Danny Woodhead to a torn ACL so his season is over. Big blow for Mark as Woodhead was a nice luxury as a flex play. Besides the Woodhead injury and Gary Barnidge not doing much, it was nice balanced attack from Mark, led by Carson Palmer who obliterated the the Bucs for 300 yards and 3 scores. Mark's receivers all came to play as Dez bounced back from his 1 catch 8 yard game and had 7 for 102, Alshon Jeffrey had 5 for 96 and Jarvis Landry did what he does in PPR, catch passes. He had 10 catches for 137 but did lose a fumble. The Murray brothers continue to produce for Mark as they combined for 27.10 points. So far so good, though it's a little concerning that Latavius is starting share more work with both Jalen Richard and Deandre Washington. Regardless, he's still producing with the workload he's getting and that's all you can ask for. This is the kind of unpredictability I was talking about with Mark though. One week, he's scoring the 2nd least points in the week. Then the next week, he's scoring the 2nd most. It's so wildly inconsistent and I expect that throughout the season. For Matt is was a great effort, with another week of not Gronk or Jamaal Charles. Matt got great performances from Isaish Crowell (continues to be a pleasant surprise, with 133 rushing yards and a TD), Tyrell Williams (61 and a score), Jordy Nelson (73 and a score) and the best of the bunch Kelvin Benjamin (7 catches for 108 and 2 scores). This is why Matt will be scary when his guys get healthy. Matt though benched Corey Coleman after he had played him last week and Coleman went off for 104 yards and 2 scores. Had he played him over Tyrell Williams, Matt wins, though it's understandable why he did. Russell Wilson continues to suck and maybe it WAS a good idea that Matt has Brady ready to go as backup in Week 5. Jeremy Hill did nothing of note and neither did Dwayne Allen. Matt might have to go another week without Gronk as it's a short week (Pats played Thursday night) but he could very well pick up his first win as he plays Drew's team which is even more decimated than his. Mark plays Leland next week and who knows what team shows up, the low scoring one, or the high scoring one.

Mike bounces back from his week 1 loss and wins easily and scores the most points of the week as he takes care of Dad in week 2. Didn't matter that Mike lost Keenan Allen for the season, as Stefon Diggs took a MAJOR step to fantasy football stardom with a breakout performance. He had 9 catches for 182 and a score. With Adrian Peterson being out indefinitely, they will lean on the passing game even more. Odell Beckham STILL hasn't had a game worthy of his draft status, but he put up double digits. Derek Carr had another great game with nearly 300 yards passing and two scores. C.J. Anderson continues to look legit as he had 93 total yards and a score. Of course we covered Eric Decker's 21.6 point game in the Thursday Night Overview. The only worrisome news is that Mike might be out Jonathan Stewart for a couple weeks as he got hurt. Still we haven't seen Jordan Reed or OBJ go off yet and it's crazy but if Diggs is going to step up in the Keenan Allen role as a target monster, I don't think losing Allen will end up being too big of a deal after all. For Dad, it's been a disappointing start as basically it's been Cam Newton and Greg Olsen doing the heavy lifting while everyone else does little. Newton was once again amazing, with 353 Passing Yards, 4 Passing TD's and 37 rushing yards. Greg Olsen caught a  75 yard TD pass and ended up with 122 a yards. Willie Snead continues to be a pleasant surprise as he had 54 and a score. Dad's receivers though...are just brutal. Golden Tate has been a major bust and the QB situation in Denver severely limits Emmanuel Sanders upside. It's basically Brandon Marshall or nothing for Dad. The running back situation is even worse. Thomas Rawls is looking like a complete bust, while Jeremy Langford scored a cheap 1 yard TD, he looked awful and lost a fumble, which is something that John Fox doesn't take lightly. Dad's in trouble big time and it doesn't get any easier next week as he takes on Mayra's undefeated team. Mike will take on Eugene and his undefeated team next week.

Thursday Night Overview/Week 1 Awards

New York Jets v Buffalo Bills : News Photo
Well it was the Matt Forte show Thursday Night and unfortunately for me, I played against him. I wasn't confident I was winning even with a average Forte performance, but when he nearly triples his projected scoring and I've already used my RB1 in LeSean McCoy who was awful, I'm already scouting Albert for next week. Always frustrating to be done after Thursday night, but such is life. Forte dominated with 100 yards and 3 TD's, and barring injury, he's a shoo in to be an RB1 the rest of the way. It's funny in the years I've owned him, he's always been injury prone and good but not great, but when he's on someone else's roster, he performs lights out. Bad matchups are going to kill me early in the season as most of my guys have them (I've looked at future weeks). That's probably the reason Yahoo has me winning a pathetic 4 games this year. So besides my impending 1-1 record, Ryan took a gamble on Sammy Watkins and it didn't pay off. Watkins was pretty much nonexistent and Ryan definitely has a wide receiver problem on his hands. Michael Crabtree seems to be his best receiver and while he's a good option, he's nowhere near a #1 receiver for fantasy purposes. For Mike...man is there any other receiver more underrated than Eric Decker? That dude gets little respect, but game in and game out he just flat out DELIVERS. 6 catches for 126 and a score. It's a damn shame Posey lost Keenan Allen to that season ending injury, because even though I don't think it's all lost for Mike, his team would've been so hard to beat with that receiver core. Although Dad's gotta be upset he's playing against Decker, it could've been MUCH MUCH worse as Brandon Marshall looked like he potentially suffered a season ending knee injury. It looked REALLY bad. But lo and behold, because Marshall is a WARRIOR, he  came back and had a good game himself with 6 catches for 101 yards. Those were the only guys relevant for this week's Thursday night games. Onto the Week 1 Awards.

Wane McGarity Stud Of The Week
Antonio Brown
Pittsburgh Steelers v Washington Redskins : News Photo
Alex was pretty close to pulling off a HUGE upset, but Antonio Brown made sure that wasn't going to happen. Brown scored nearly 29 points to help keep Alex at bay. He's the #1 Fantasy Football player for a reason, and any team that owns him is definitely not at any kind of competitive disadvantage.

Michael Wiley Dud Of The Week
Dez Bryant
New York Giants v Dallas Cowboys : News Photo
There were worries about Dez before the draft and man did those worries become reality. 1 catch for 8 yards in Dez's first game of the season. Not good. Mark didn't spend a first round pick to get that kind of production. Hopefully it's an anomaly, because if not, Mark can't survive this season with this kind of Dez.

Jay Cutler Bad Decision Award
Mark Plays Darren Sproles over Danny Woodhead
San Diego Chargers v Kansas City Chiefs : News Photo
I usually don't give this nor the Surprise Start award out Week 1 because teams generally stick to their lineups they drafted, but this was a head scratcher to me because Woodhead is the far superior talent to Sproles and Mark inexplicably benched him. It wouldn't have mattered in the long run, but still for points, Woodhead more than tripled Sproles output. I doubt Mark does that again unless it's a bye week situation.

There is no Drew Bennett Sneaky Surprise Start Award this week.
