I can't believe it's already that time again. The very first edition of Matchups and Predictions. All 12 teams start out with a clean slate, and with one vision, to win big. Let's get to the Week 1 Matchups and Predictions.
Kumamon Express (0-0) vs
No Soup For You (0-0)
Matchup Stats
All Time Record: I lead series 5-3-1
Last Matchup: Leland beat me 75-40 in the last place game
Key Players
Kumamon Express: Tony Romo (Giants) C.J. Anderson (Ravens) Matt Forte (Packers) Jordan Matthews (Falcons) DeAndre Hopkins (Chiefs) Greg Olsen (Jaguars)
No Soup For You: Matt Ryan (Eagles) DeMarco Murray (Falcons) Calvin Johnson (Chargers) Brandin Cooks (Cardinals) Martellus Bennett (Packers)
Wild Cards
Kumamon Express: Maclin's KC Debut. Is C.J. Anderson legit? Decker, Royal, Woodhead at flex?
No Soup For You: Murray's workload. Darren McFadden and Dorial Green-Beckham spot starts
Predictions
Yahoo Says: 104-99
I Say: I win. Man it seems like I always play Kenny or Leland week 1. I'm always optimistic for week 1, so it's not a shock that I'll go with myself to get win here, but it won't be easy whatsoever. Leland having to use mediocre starters right off the bat (due to the Gurley injury and Bryant suspension) isn't ideal, but he has a pretty damn strong enough team to overcome that. I'll give myself the slight edge.
Rocket Man (0-0) vs
Channel 4 News Team (0-0)
Matchup Stats
All Time Record: Eugene leads series 4-1
Last Matchup: Eugene beat Albert 101-78.5 in the 3rd Place Game
Key Players
Rocket Man: Aaron Rodgers (Bears) Julio Jones (Eagles) Mark Ingram (Cardinals) Jason Witten (Giants)
Channel 4 News Team: A.J. Green (Raiders) Rob Gronkowski (Steelers) Philip Rivers (Lions) Andre Johnson (Bills)
Wild Cards
Rocket Man: His whole roster outside of Julio/Rodgers (should be a recurring theme). Tre Mason game time decision.
Channel 4 News Team: RB play. How will Sammy Watkins do?
Predictions
Yahoo Says: Eugene wins 100-99.
I Say: Albert wins. A rematch of the 3rd place game. Well, if Eugene is going to get a win, he's got a solid chance here in what may be the 2nd weakest team in the league. If Tre Mason doesn't play, Eugene will have to throw someone else out there and it won't be pretty. Wouldn't be surprised if Eugene wins, but I'll give Albert the tiniest edge.
Dr. Light's Robots (0-0) vs
Bigger Balls (0-0)
Matchup Stats
All Time Record: Matt leads series 3-2
Last Matchup: Matt beat Mayra 119-113.5 in the Wane McGarity Bowl
Key Players
Dr. Light's Robots: Ben Roethlisberger (Patriots) Odell Beckham (Cowboys) Julian Edelman (Steelers) Jamaal Charles (Texans)
Bigger Balls: Antonio Brown (Patriots) Carlos Hyde (Vikings) Ryan Tannehill (Redskins)
Wild Cards
Dr. Light's Robots: RB play of J-Stew and Alf. Roddy White's health.
Bigger Balls: How will the complementary players fare (Landry, Agholor, Blue, Eifert, Wallace)
Predictions
Yahoo Says: Matt wins 104-100
I Say: Matt wins. A rematch of last year's classic Championship, I think Matt takes the W here as his roster seems a tad bit more consistent than Mayra's. It's very difficult for Mayra to not have Le'Veon Bell out there and I'm not sure Alfred Blue can come even close to making up his stats. Matt's got some questions at RB as well, Mayra seems to have more boom or busts type, which makes her team highly volatile. Again, just like the other matchups this week, I only favor Matt but a tiny bit, and it could easily go Mayra's way.
BigBadBob (0-0) vs
Shock the Monkey (0-0)
Matchup Stats
All Time Record: Series is tied 2-2
Last Matchup: Dad Beat Mark 84-45 in the 9th place game
Key Players
BigBadBob: Matthew Stafford (Chargers) Randall Cobb (Bears) Marshawn Lynch (Rams) Travis Kelce (Texans) Vincent Jackson (Titans)
Shock The Monkey: Jeremy Hill (Raiders) Lamar Miller (Redskins) Peyton Manning (Ravens) Emmanuel Sanders (Ravens) Alshon Jeffrey (Packers)
Wild Cards
BigBadBob: Cobb 100%? Andre Ellington. Larry Fitzgerald bounce back. Gio Workload
Shock The Monkey: Joseph Randle workload. Jeffrey's health.
Predictions
Yahoo Says: Mark wins 105-98.
I Say: Mark wins. Dad's taken the last two matchups, but I think Mark takes week 1 here, but again, it should be close.
Woe Is Me (0-0) vs
Sons of The Harpy (0-0)
Matchup Stats
All Time Record: Series is tied 4-4
Last Matchup: Kenny beat Drew 65-62 in Week 13 of the 2014 Season
Key Players
Woe Is Me: Russell Wilson (Rams) Dez Bryant (Giants) T.Y. Hilton (Bills) Devante Adams (Bears) LeSean McCoy (Colts) Latavius Murray (Bengals) Chris Ivory (Browns)
Sons of The Harpy: Tom Brady (Steelers) Demaryius Thomas (Ravens) Amari Cooper (Bengals) Allen Robinson (Panthers) Adrian Peterson (49ers)
Wild Cards
Woe Is Me: Jordan Cameron at Tight End.
Sons of The Harpy: Rashad Jennings workload. TE/Flex production.
Predictions
Yahoo Says: Drew wins 102-101
I Say: Kenny wins. Drew's last win was the infamous game he tanked to avoid Mayra in round 1, so more than likely, Drew would truly lead this series. Funny how much praise I heaped on Kenny and he's already an underdog in week 1, but I don't agree with Yahoo. Kenny has the much stronger team, and though it should be a great matchup (it always is between these two), I think Kenny takes it.
Hoosier Daddy (0-0) vs
Winter is Over (0-0)
Matchup Stats
All Time Record: Alex leads series 1-0
Last Matchup: Alex beat Ryan 91-76 in Week 6 of the 2013 Season
Key Players
Hoosier Daddy: Andrew Luck (Bills) Mike Evans (Titans) Golden Tate (Chargers) Justin Forsett (Broncos) Frank Gore (Bills)
Winter Is Over: Drew Brees (Cardinals) Brandon Marshall (Browns) Eddie Lacy (Bears) Jimmy Graham (Rams)
Wild Cards
Hoosier Daddy: Will Mike Evans Play? DeSean Jackson production. Gore Snap Count? Owen Daniels at TE? How will Melvin Gordon do?
Winter Is Over: Reggie Bush plug in play. Veteran WR production.
Predictions
Yahoo Says: Ryan wins 96-94.
I Say: Ryan wins. If Mike Evans doesn't play, it becomes much more of a tossup. If he does, as much crap as I gave Ryan for his drafting, his team should be able to beat Alex's this week. Mike Evans availability though is HUGE.
