One of the biggest questions going into the season was if Rob Gronkowski was really worth a 1st round pick. I honestly felt 1st round was a little high, since picking him there basically guaranteed you'd be weak at other prominent positions such as Wide Receiver or Tight End. Of course my grand master plan was hoping others felt the same way and snatching an RB in the first round and hoping Albert, who kept A.J. Green in Round 1 and had no 3rd round pick thus needing to get a RB in Round 2, would skip on Gronk and then I'd land him in Round 2. Well, Albert thwarted my plan and after last night, I'm sure he's damn happy he did. Gronk was INDEFENSIBLE last night. Piling up 94 yards and 3 TD's to the tune of nearly 30 fantasy points. Yeah...he certainly is worth a 1st round pick for sure (Albert getting him in Round 2, makes it that much sweeter). Gronk wasn't the only one with a great performance. Kenny's in legit trouble after Tom Brady had a pretty flawless game, throwing nearly 300 yards and 4 TD's for almost 32 points. With Drew still having big guns like Demaryius Thomas and Adrian Peterson to play, he's in good shape to get that week 1 win. I made fun of Eugene for playing Dion Lewis and it's time to eat my words because he was actually very efficient. He finished with over 100 total combined yards (though he did lose a crucial fumble) and 14 points. It's gonna be hard for Lewis to maintain that, especially with LaGarette Bount coming back, but still it was a nice surprise. Those kind of out of nowhere plays are gonna be what drives Eugene's team this season. Matt has to be disappointed with Big Ben. Yes, he almost reached his projected point total, but his only TD was a meaningless one to....ANTONIO BROWN, who of course belongs to his opponent Mayra. Brown was awesome and proved he was definitely worth keeping (133 and a score). At least Matt got a great Julian Edelman performance (11 catches for 97 yards). All in all, pretty good start overall, but at the end of the day, it's just game 1 and anything can happen Sunday and Monday.
