Week 13 Results: Playoffs are Set

Romo: Cowboys 'playing for our playoff lives'
Well it's official, the 2013 regular season of the Wayne McGarrity is over. The playoffs start next week as 6 teams vie for the coveted championship and cash that goes along with it. It's crazy to see who DIDN'T get in. Me, Kenny, Drew, and Mayra are all on the outside looking in. We all had our defining moments that led us to where we are. Some of it's luck, some of it bad management. As the old adage goes, "there's always next year",  but for Leland, Matt, Ryan, Mike, Dad, and Albert next year is now and it'll be an interesting race to see who ends up #1. Here are results for the last week in the regular season.

Poseidon Angry (5-7-1)                 137.50
The Bad Robofies (6-7)                 104

I needed to go 4-0 to make the playoffs. I went 3-0-1. That's right, I technically went undefeated but because of last week's heartbreaking tie (worst punch in the gut fantasy football moment ever for me) I needed to win AND get help from 3 others. Naturally, because that's how this season has gone, I got the win, but only 2 out of 3 people I needed to win won thus becoming the odd man out in the playoffs. I can lie and say it doesn't bother me, and be "thankful it's just all over" but I won't. It beyond sucks and is beyond frustrating. It truly felt like the fantasy gods did everything in their power to keep me from winning. I lost an unheard of 6 running backs (Fred Jackson, Matt Forte, C.J. Spiller, Rashard Mendenhall, LeSean McCoy, Matt Forte AGAIN) during a game, had the hardest strength of schedule according to Yahoo, lost 5 straight weeks, had 4 losses of 9 points and under, and had that cruel tie, yet i Still finished only half a game out of the playoffs. Calvin Johnson turned it on way to late this season, and he once again was a beast this week with 171 and a touchdown. Bryce Brown was awesome yet again as well (he did fumble again) with a 29 point performance. Modest performances by Matt Forte, Victor Cruz, Eli Manning and the Arizona defense rounded out my team. Eric Decker was shitty yet again with only 2 points. He was probably the only sore spot on my team. For Dad, it's a great sign going into the playoffs that Cam Newton is starting to catch fire. After last week's badass performance, he followed it up with a 3 TD 28 point performance. Wes Welker was also really good with 22 points, but noone else really stood out. He didn't use him, but DeMarco Murray looked good and it's another piece Dad gets back for the playoffs. For the 2nd straight year, Dad's lack of consistant running backs seems to have not hurt him. He went basically all season without DeMarco Murray and even Sproles missed some time yet he still managed to make the playoffs. He'll take on Albert in the 1st round. Albert knocked him out in the first round last year so he'll look for revenge. As for me, well, nothing I can do, shit happens, it just ended up happening to me.

Game MVP
Calvin Johnson (Poseidon Angry)
13 receptions, 171 yards, 1 TD, 29.5 points

Breaking Bybee (5-8)                 116
The Twin Killers (7-5-1)              86.5

Well, just like me, it was very frustrating season for Kenny. Despite having RGIII, Kenny's team as a whole flat out underachieved for the most part. Kenny's 1 point loss to Mike was probably the biggest reason he's out of the playoffs, but last week he also didn't play 49ers defense, and he could've beaten Matt. At least he'll go out with a bang. Believe it or not, Pierre Garcon and Jason Hanson led the way, but it was a pretty balanced attack outside of Roddy White who only had 1 catch for 20 yards. Everyone else scored in double digits and after no offensive touchdowns from his guys outside of his QB last week, Kenny got 4 this week. For Leland, he's getting hit with the injury bug big time now. Already without Gronk, now he'll be without Ryan Broyles (out for the year) and it looks like for at least this week, Jordy Nelson will be out too. Matt Ryan was horrible with only 10 points Thursday night and Martellus Bennett led his team in scoring with 16 points. T.Y. Hilton looked good again, and now Leland's going to have depend him even more with two receivers out. He'll take on Mike in the 1st round of the playoffs, while Kenny joins me in the loser bowl.

Game MVP
Pierre Garcon (Breaking Bybee)
8 receptions, 106 yards, 1 TD, 20 points

Dr. Wily's Robots (10-3)               97.5
Bigger Balls (5-8)                         92

Drew Brees picked the WRONG week to have his worst game of the season. Mayra had the easiest path the playoffs. Win and get in. Unfortunately Drew Brees put her in an early hole and she couldn't overcome it to beat Matt. The Houston Defense showed up like they have most of the season and Anquan Boldin had a great game, but outside of that, everyone else didn't do enough to clinch Mayra the win. Matt had a nice spot start from Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Mike Williams once again had a great game in relief for Percy Harvin. A.J. Green and Foster were held pretty much in check for their high standards and Vernon Davis has reverted all the way back to totally sucking, but Matt got just enough from Alfred Morris and Hakeem Nicks last night to pick up the win. For Mayra, finishing the season with 2 losses by a total combined points of 9.5 is very tough to swallow. Losing 4 in a row to end the season didn't help matters either. She got valuable playing experience, and she'll be ready to go next season. Matt has the #1 seed and will enjoy a bye this week.

Game MVP
Mike Williams (Dr. Wily's Robots)
6 receptions, 93 yards, 1 TD, 18 points

Channel 4 News Team (7-6)           126
Chardee MacDennis (5-8)               110.5

Drew's team just couldn't get it together. He went the ragtag route again this week (Blackmon, Shorts, Moreno) and Drew fell short. McFadden really screwed him over this season. Adrian Peterson had a MONSTER game with over 200 yards rushing, but at the end of the day the role players played like well role players. Outside of Stafford, Shorts, and Aaron Hernandez, no one had over 9 points. Albert started slow as Tom Brady was very average, but his team finished strong. Demayius Thomas is a BEAST with 99 yards and two TD's. Brandon Marshall is no slouch either, with 10 catches for 165. Combined that with solid games from Lance Moore, Trent Richarson, and Mikel Leshoure, and you'll see why Albert cruised to the victory. Albert's the only team to make the playoffs all three seasons and he's looking to 3 peat. With this team, he'll have a great chance.

Game MVP
Demaryius Thomas (Channel 4 News Team)
8 receptions, 99 yards, 2 TD's, 25 points
Manning as accurate as ever coming off neck injury

Richard Head  (6-7)       108
Hoosier Daddy (8-5)       90

The Matchup that did me in. I needed Mike to lose to get in and not only does he while starting an inactive he blows out Ryan by 18. Ryan's team was AWFUL. JUST AWFUL. Peyton Manning did his thing but good lord those receivers. Larry Fitzgerald, Devone Bess, and Reggie Wayne barely combined to get what BRIAN HARTLINE got on his own. Ryan definitely needs a bye, cause this team is WEAK. BenJarvus was good yardage wise but couldn't find the endzone, and neither could Ahmad Bradshaw. It looked like Jason Witten was going to get 2 TD's but nope he couldn't score, just got good yards as well. It was another mediocre day for Aaron Rodgers, but Dez Bryant saved Posey once again. Dez has been playing LIGHTS OUT this past month. 98 yards and 2 scores, and most of that came after a 1 catch 14 yard, 1st half. Heath Miller also provided some punch with 17.5. Mike has such a weird team. The running backs are good, the receivers don't look good, and he's had a pretty average (by his standards) Aaron Rodgers. Yet here he is, locked in the 6th seed, and he'll take on an injury depleted Leland team next. Ryan will enjoy the bye before having to play either Albert or Dad.

 Game MVP
Dez Bryant (Richard Head)
6 receptions, 98 yards, 2 TD's, 24 points
